TRAVOLTA FACES OFF WITH SELF ON TOY 'BATTLEFIELD'

On Day 2 of New York's annual Toy Fair convention Monday, John Travolta checked out the action toys tied to his upcoming science-fiction movie "Battlefield Earth." Sources said Travolta is letting his likeness be used for the action figures licensed to toymaker Trendmaster by Morgan Prods., which has made the film with Warner Bros. and Franchise Pictures.

By contrast, Paramount Pictures is unable to do a Toy fair push of action figures for its May sequel "Mission: Impossible 2." A source said that Paramount's problem is that, unlike Travolta, star Tom Cruise is "notoriously reticent" about licensing and tie-in toys involving his likeness.
