July 23, 1999Travolta Talks Numbers
What do you do for a palate cleanser after wrapping Scientology founder L.Ron Hubbard's sci-fi epic Battlefield Earth?
If you're John Travolta, you might make a small-sized romantic comedy.
Variety reports that The General's Daughter star is looking to reteam with his Michael director Nora Ephron.
The role Travolta's eyeing is that of a "down-on-his-luck everyman who gets involved in a lottery scam." No names have been mentioned for the female lead, although we imagine wife Kelly Preston will get a reading.
The script is by Larry Sanders writer Adam Resnick and Mad Chance is producing the project.
Travolta, who's currently filming Battlefield is said to considering Numbers as a fall project. How about a vacation?
The man has turned out a whopping 10 pictures in the last three years, and has been "mentioned to star" in at least 11 upcoming pictures, including playing Frank Sinatra in a Dean Martin biography and starring in Be Cool, the sequel to Get Shorty. He's also attached to Standing Room Only, Run for Your Life, Fear, and Dark Horse.
