Welcome to the lands of swords and sorcery, where people live and die by the sword and only the bravest of souls stand between the common folk and the forces of darkness. Join me as I wander different planes and hear the stories of their greatest defenders and the sagas of their worthiest warriors.

That said, on to the review!
Dragonmage of Mystara is the third and final book in The Dragonlord Chronicles, and I must say that this is my favorite of the three. There are so many things going on that you don't have time to get bored, and there are so many secrets coming to light that you never lose your excitement, always anticipating the next startling revelation. We have action once more as opposed to the politics that characterized the second book. The final chapters of the book are non-stop excitement and action as we follow Thelyvn's mission into another plane and finally see exactly what Thelvyn's ultimate reason for existence actually is.
Seeing the dragons roused from their relative complacency by enemies that rival their mastery of aerial combat tactics is a great addition to the trilogy. The gemstone dragons are a horde of formidable foes, and I enjoyed watching the "normal" dragons working hard to find new ways to defeat them. Also interesting were the Veydran, the race of dragon-like beings from that other world where the gemstone dragons and their master were staging from. In most books you see humans--or at least humanoid races--plotting and scheming. This time it is the dragons and their ilk that get to have all the exciting jobs; the humanoids--and humans--are just spectators. Don't you just love it?
Dragonmage of Mystara is exactly what you'd expect in the conclusion to an incredible trilogy. The fine writing of its author weaves a tale of two worlds and two times, and establishes characters as real people, even if they're dragons. Read Dragonlord of Mystara and Dragonking of Mystara first, then treat yourself to the conclusion!
