That said, on to the review!
Myth Conceptions continues the Myth Adventures of Aahz and Skeeve series and is the second novel in the two-in-one edition recently released by Ace Books. With the basics out of the way in the first book, this second book allows readers more time to enjoy their actual adventures instead of learning more about the way things work in the series' universe.
One of the fascinating things about Skeeve is how he always manages to get abandoned by those older and supposedly wiser than he is whenever they visit the Bazaar. What's even more fascinating is how he manages to get into trouble and then get out of it again, usually because that "trouble" turns out to be a blessing in disguise. He may be a Klahd, but he's the kind of guy everyone hates to like but end up liking anyway. You know, I don't think the author ever mentioned how old Skeeve actually is, but he must be somewhere from his late teens to his early twenties at least, the perfect age to be attractive and endearing and innocent for everyone to like and appreciate. No wonder he's luckier than the centuries-old, green-scaled Aahz at getting the job done.
Myth Conceptions is fun to read from start to finish, with humor balancing the serious stuff throughout the book. It is, of course, only the beginning of Skeeve's adventures in Possiltum, and you can be sure that if he pulls this escapade off he'll be back in the Bazaar finding more trouble to get into while he tries to avoid it. Just read the books; you'll see what I mean.
