"Andrew," called Reechi from the communications console in my room on the ship. "I have a message for you from earth."
It was another girl I know named Nicole Johnsten. "Oh my gosh, that Andrew Watts is so dreamy!" she said. "Oh, there you are!" she said as she noticed my image on her computer screen. "I've used my computer to find out you're in space! Can you take me up there with you?"
"I am flattered," I said. "Reechi, lock on to Nicole's coordinates and beam her up." When I saw Nicole beam into the ship, she ran up, hugged me, and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"Andrew," she said, "I've been recieving messages from the Eesk-Nret telling me that their race will change earth dramatically!"
"Really? I gotta talk with Reechi and Cheegora about this," I said. I walked into the control room, which was not far away. "Cheegora, Reechi," I said. "Our new visitor says that your race will dramatically change the earth!"
"We told her," said Cheegora. "I can't exactly tell you how it will be changed, but it will not destroy humanity."
"Cool!" I said. "When will this procedure occur?"
"It will be unexpected," answered Cheegora. "At least to the people who are on earth right now."
I soon realized that "right now" were the key words. All of a sudden, a large blueish cloud seemed to envelope the earth. Somehow, it had caused ten squirrels, each a different species from different parts of the world, to appear on the ship. One of these squirrels came up to me and started talking, saying, "every squirrel on earth has gained sentience and is now in control of the earth."
"Is this the change that Cheegora was talking about?" I asked.
"Affirmative," another squirrel answered. "We are now going to be part of the Eesk-Nret alliance."
"Oh, boy," I said. "I have had a long day.
"Do you now realize why only Cheegora and I were the only Eesk-Nret on this large ship?" said Reechi.
"Oh! Now I know why," I replied. "You are going to populate this entire ship with earth squirrels!"
"Exactly," responded Reechi. "We plan on building separate ships for them, and make a fleet which we will use to fight off our deadliest enemy, the Sufelians."
"How can squirrels fight off some kind of alien badguys?" I asked.
"Simple," he answered. "With the help of you and your girlfriends, the task should be completed. We are preparing for the invasion. The Sufelians plan on attacking both earth and the Eesk-Nret homeworld."
All of a sudden, Cheegora's voice came through the intercom, saying, "Reechi, we are being attacked!" An enemy vessel showed up on the main screen.
"This is not going to be too healthy," I said.
"They just blew off our port nacelle!" yelled Reechi.
"Soon there will be boarding teams of Sufelians invading our ship," Cheegora said.
"Oh, that's reassuring," I said sarcastically.
"They will eat us all!" cried one of the squirrels.
"No need to fear," I said. "We are the good guys. Good guys always win."
"Can't we just blow them up?" asked Danielle.
"Not without weapons," Reechi said. "We're defenceless! Unless any of you have some bright ideas."
"I refuse to surrender to those alien slime!" said Nicole.
Cheegora came to all of us and gave us hand weapons of some kind. Our ship's exterior weapons may have been broken, but these hand weapons were not. We were now prepared for the invasion.
To my relief, the Sufelians stopped firing. With the blink of an eye, a very hideous Sufelian beamed aboard and grabbed Reechi as he was struggling to go free. I zapped the alien with my weapon as soon as I figured out how to use it. Reechi ran free the second I knocked out the invader with the weapon. "Hah!" I exclaimed. "Alien swine!"
Another Sufelian beamed aboard and was trying to take Nicole, who was not ready to lift her weapon in time. Cheegora and I both zapped him, and my reply was a simple "yes!"
"Perhaps we should board their ship," suggested Danielle.
"No, no," replied Cheegora. "Our transporters are not operating.
"We are doomed!" yelled Bushra pessimistically.
A third alien beamed aboard with a sharp knife and was approaching Cheegora. Reechi zapped the alien, and greenish purple acidic blood dripped out, vaporizing some of the floor. This caused damage to the artificial gravity generator.
"I feel lighter all of a sudden," said Danielle.
"We're losing gravity," Reechi explained. "It's the alien swine's blood."
After the fourth alien beamed aboard, I had a plan. I put my weapon in my pocket, and bravely said, "take me, I'm defenceless." So the alien took me, and brought me to their ship. I took out my weapon, put it on kill setting, and blew his head off. I also zapped the transporter operator, and acidic blood was everywhere. After I had killed all the aliens and dodged their knives, it was time to evacuate the Eesk-Nret ship.
"Cheegora to Andrew," Cheegora said through her comunicator, "are you all right?"
"Of course," I answered. "All the galactic scum is dead now. I am beaming all of you aboard." The alien transporter was still operational because the acidic blood of the aliens seemed to have no effect on their own ships. The ten earth squirrels, Cheegora, Reechi, and the girls were al beamed aboard.
"Our old ship is no longer spaceworthy," said Cheegora. "We must destroy it."
All of us went to the cockpit of the alien ship. The torpedo control was still active, and Reechi sadly fired on his old ship. "She was a good ship," he cried as it exploded.
"You poor little squirrel," Danielle said sympathetically.
"Maybe you can get to know this ship," said Bushra.
"I could do that," said Reechi. "But I will always miss my old ship."
"We are going to send this ship to the Eesk-Nret alliance," said Cheegora. "It will be refit to be suitable for Eesk-Nret, squirrels, and humanoids."
