Jeremiah Watches The Older Kids Fly Kites.

He Watches Them Shoot Hoops.

He Watches Them Throw A Baseball.

The Older Boys Tell Jeremiah He's Too Young To Go Fishing.

But They Occasionally Let Him Shoot Marbles.

Jeremiah Has A Tree House And Invites His Friends To Climb His Ladder.

Do You Know A Jeremiah?
Does He Fly Kites?
Does He Have A Sack Of Marbles?

"But Mom...Just One More Game"
© By Patry Denton

Was just thinkin' 'bout days when...
there were games like marbles, 'r jacks, 'n jump
rope, 'n playin' tag, 'r hopscotch,

When much time was spent developin' skills that
would surpass those of Larry's, Tommy's, 'n Bills,
or Cathy's, who lived just down the street.

Usin' those little orbs made of clay 'r glass...
oh 'n there were aggies 'n steelies too.

A group o' friends 'n a big circle on loosened dirt 'r sand...
Playin' "for keeps", "potsies", "ringer" 'n other games.
"Immies", "mibs", "shooters", "zebras",
'n other names, 'n "knuckles down"
were just part of the lingo used back then...

when "marbles", was one o' the biggest and "bestest"
pastimes things t' do, mostly outside, on a
sunshiny day, not on a screen, or an
electric thing that seems t' present a grand
array to those who are young 'n playin' games
nowdays.
