This scene started life as a study of storm tossed waves breaking on the shingle beach.
However, a narrative just couldn't help developing.
The last warm rays of sunlight pick out the seagulls against the wall of dark cloud swallowing up the horizon.
The waves crash on to the beach with increasing ferocity.
Out at sea a lone sailing ship battles against time to reach the safety of harbour before the storm catches up with them.
