Travel South thru Farmington NM you may notice this craggy tower like structure on the Western Horizon.
As it turns out this natural monument is Ship Rock. Known to the Navajo people as “Tse’ Bit’ a’ i’” (The Winged Rock) and steeped in legend. This tower of igneous rock was once the core of a volcano with wings of lava flow extending from it in either direction.
Actually, it reminded me of a huge dragon laying belly down in the desert.
Winged Rock is certainly appropriate.
