| Back a few years ago,there was a spell when I was asked to paint a succession of scenes from the Napoleonic wars. Basically, this wing of the gallery houses a collection of rough sketches, drawn ahead of commissioned oil paintings, but I figured that they may still be of interest. Some are a character studies others are more compositional scenes. Some of these scenes depicting eyewitness accounts of actual events. |
