What is Magick?

Magick is the force of Will that someone upon their true path can utilize to effect changes in the universe. The closer one comes to being in total harmony with the Source, the more one's Will conforms to the Will of the Source, the more power to affect the Universe the individual has. It is also the mental and emotional discipline to know and enact your Will. Rituals and ceremonies, objects and sacrifices, talismans and amulets--these are all props to aid memory, increase focus, stir emotional energy. An adept may perform Magick with none of these things, but it takes a very high level of mastery of your mind, emotions, body and spirit before one can do away with these props. Novices often confuse the trappings with the deeper meanings that lie behind the trappings and are the true source of the Power.

It is possible to perform evil magick, anytime the motive has not been closely examined to determine if it is pure and will harm no one, then the magic is dark. The consequences for dark magic are severe, the spell will rebound to the caster three times as strong as he or she cast it. This is called The Rule of Three. And only the worst kind of fool attempts to practice evil magick for very long.

There are many systems of magick, but all share the same basic tenet, The Will of the Caster determines the potency of the Spell. There are myriad books on these different systems and any student of the Art will need to read amongst them to determine which suits them best. There is no substitute for personal research, experimentation, and discipline. There are no short-cuts to enlightenment; the journey itself is what is important.
