What is a Magickal name?

A magickal name is what you choose to call yourself in the Craft, a chosen name rather than one chosen for you. As to what it should be, it is most important that it feels right to you. By astrological charts and various other correspondences I should probably call myself Goat Woman, or Dull Tigereye. Hehe. I don't think so. A magickal name should be what you most want to be, not tied to the circumstances of your birthday or Astrological Sign. It follows the same principle that if you keep telling a child that they are smart, they will grow up believing they are smart, and in the end actually being smart. Your magickal name should be a definition of who you want to be as much as who you are. Second, there is no rule anywhere that says you may only have one magickal name. When I first started, I called myself Caprica, but as I got older, I realized that I had outgrown my name and I needed a new one. Finding it was fairly simple, I asked the Goddess to give me illumination and sometime thereafter I had a Marvelous dream about a woman wearing a dress of Living Flame that clothed and protected her but did not burn her, who was powerful and wise and all the things I wanted to be. So I took the name Firesilk.
