Why don't you have more spells?

I don't have more spells in my book of shadows because effective spell-casting is not a formula to be recited. It seems to be horribly disappointing to those new to the Craft, not to find massive lists of ready-to-use spells, but using magick to change the world is like learning to play an instrument and a spell is like sheet music. I could drop the entire library of all the world's sheet music on your lap and it still would not enable you to play it. To continue the metaphor, when you are learning to play an instrument, you must spend hours, days, months learning to produce good clear tones from your instrument, then further time learning to play scales, and still more time on simple music gradually working up to more and more complex pieces. It does not happen over night, nor does it happen unless you are willing to invest a lot of time and effort into it. With spell-casting and magick, the instrument is your mind and the world around you. You must first spend time learning the magickal properties of the Universe around you, these will be found in Correspondence tables and through experimentation and reading. Then you must learn how to control and channel your mind through meditation, visualization and trances. Like learning an instrument this takes a long time to develope and must be practiced until perfected. After you have developed these abilities, and learned the Magickal properties of the Universe, you then find that you don't need to use someone else's formula's for magick, though you can it just seems easier to build each spell specific to the situation for which it is needed (and more effective too). The words, the components, the actions that you perform in a spell are not the power, they are just there to channel your own Will and energies and the energy of the world around you. If you have not learned how to do this, then the words of a spell have no more power or meaning than any other words you might utter. The movies make it look like magick is a shortcut to getting things done, when in reality true magick is often times just as difficult as doing a thing some other way and learning it does not come overnight or without much personal effort and dedication.
