Student Senate
Student Senate is the legislative branch of the Student Government
Association. The Senate also acts as the official liaison between the
faculty, staff and the administration. As the legislative branch of the
Student Government Association, Student Senate has the authority for
formulating and reviewing policies concerning student life, services,
and any matter they deem appropriate.
Speaker Pro-Tempore
The Pro-Tempore assists in conducting senate meetings. The Pro-Tempore
represents Senate to the university and the
community. The Pro-Tempore addresses campus concerns through the senate
and informs the University of policy decisions made by the Senate.
- Student representative on Student Government Association Executive
Board. Responsible for the communication between students,
Chancellor, and Dean of Students.
- Chaired Bylaw Review Committee
- Administered the first Student Senate training retreat
- Student representative on University Health and Safety Committee
- Student representative on University Legislative Affairs Committee
- Student representative on Dining Advisory Committee
- Senate representative to University Union Board
- Presented $6000 budget to Student University Funds Allocation

A student senator is the direct representation of 6000 students in
all matters effecting students.
- Student voice on Learning Experience and Campus Life for the 21st
Century projects
- Student representative on Awards and Recognition Committee
- Student representative on Student Needs and Assessment Committee
- Responsible for legislation increasing board membership from 16 to
20 senators
- Sponsor of resolution against mandatory student health care
