THE ANIMATED SERIES

In 1972, Filmation approached Gene Roddenberry to create an animated series for Star Trek. The resulting 1/2 hour episodes, though written for an adult audience, were shown by NBC during the Saturday morning cartoon timeslots, and thus they became known as the forgotten Trek. The original cast did the majority of voice-overs for their own and other characters. 22 episodes were produced for TAS, which originally ran from September 1973 to October 1974.
