Truman Porter Schermerhorn

Truman Schermerhorn was my grandfather. He was born in 1910. He lived in Glen Allen, Virginia with his wife, Lois Garrett Schermerhorn, and his children, Susan, Porter, and Linda.

Here he is flexing his muscles in the back yard. He was a strong man! He used to tell me stories of how he once wrestled the strongest man in the world, Milo Steinborn, who could lift an elephant. Once Milo bragged that he could bend anyone's back, but he couldn't bend Truman's!

Truman lived on a small farm on Winfrey Road. Here's a picture of what the front yard on Winfrey Road used to look like. I have no idea what year this picture was taken, but I know that the land looks different now! I had to do some work on the photograph, because it's in bad condition, but it looks like there are some ducks running around in the yard. ?
