BRIEF HISTORY

Forge was born mutant, being his power the ability of creating any electronic stuff that his mind can imagine, but his destiny was also to be the shaman of his tribe, being trained in magic since he was a child by his mentor, Naze. However, he changed his mind about the use of magic when, after losing a leg and a hand to a bomb that killed all his companions and about to be caught by the Cong, during the Vietnam war, he surrendered to panic and invoked a spell to kill his enemies, sacrificing the souls of his dead mates in the process. Other consequence was the freedom of an evil being, the Adversary, who was to be the destroyer of the earth some time later.

Forge used his mutant power in behalf of the USA government, working with Val Cooper and Raven Darkholme for a long time, until he created a weapon capable of stealing the powers from any super-being. At first, it was supposed to be used against major menaces in case of danger, like Magneto, but people like H.P. Gyrich had other things in mind, and decided to use it against Rogue, although the weapon was still an experiment and it was unknown if its use could kill the target or if the effects would be permanent. Mystique, knowing about Gyrich's purposes, but unable to stop him, warned Storm about it, knowing thanks to Destiny that the person helping Rogue that day would be the one to suffer the effects of the gun, but that, of course, she didn't tell, so when Storm went to Caldecott (Mississipi) to prevent Rogue from damage and despite the efforts of Forge, who wasn't willing to let him use his device like that, she was the one to lose her abilities, falling into the river, while an unconcious Rogue dissappeared in the waters.

Forge, feeling pretty bad about the whole thing, took Storm to his house, the Eagle Nest, a penthouse in Dallas, full of holograms and flying platforms, were he lived apart from the world since his experience in Vietnam. Although Storm was willing to die, he fed her and helped her out, and they fall in love. Unfortunately, the romance didn't last long for she discovered that he has been the one to create the weapon that reached her, and left him, vowing to return for vengeance, but as she was living the building, she met Naze, Forge's foster father, who was coming to help his son against the space ghosts, an evil alien race capable of absorbing the bodies and minds of any being. They were trying to kill Forge due to his creation, which has been an effort of duplicating Rom's weapons, but still wasn't perfect, so they wouldn't let him live long enough to do that. Both came into the building and destroyed most of the aliens, but Naze was possessed by one, and violated Forge's sancta sanctorum, invoking the Adversary and opening him a way to earth in return for his help to conqueer the planet. However, he came to earth, but killed that last space ghost and kept the form of Naze. Storm had her chance of killing Forge then, but she decided to let him live in guilt, waiting for her return to be free from his loads.

Eventually, Storm left the leadership of the X Men to Wolverine and returned to the Eagle Nest, but it wasn'r Forge who was there, but The Adversary in Naze's shape, who led her through a path of horror through the Grand Canyon to fool her into killing the man. She met him in the Rocky Mountains (Colorado) in top of a mountain of demons and under a gate, which would destroy the world, and believing him to be the one who opened it, stabbed the only being able of closing the gate. Both began to fall from the peak but were absorbed by the gate and dissapeared into other dimension, leaving the way free for the Adversary, who took advantage in his game against Roma and caught her prisioner. In that world they spent a whole year, and Storm found a different self once again. During her trip, he built a new nest in a mountain, and though the posibility of staying in that other world alone with his lover was pretty tempting, the knowledge of the Earth being destroyed pushed him to restore Storm's powers with a new version of the famous gun. With her help he opened a mistic gate and returned to Earth, just to find out that things were very bad, with a capital B. The only way of destroying the Adversary was opening a new gate like the one he opened in Vietnam, but the sacrifice of the X Men was needed, and they offered themselves, casting Forge the spell once more, this time very reluctantly, and earning two dangerous foes, Mystique, foster mother of Rogue, and Magik, Colossus sister, who would later try to kill him.

He would meet again some X Men (Jean Grey and Banshee) during an attack of the morlocks, commanded by Mask, joining the group as an active member. For a while, he thought Ororo was dead, but she was just reverted to chilhood by Nanny and the Orphanmaker. After she recovered her elder shape, they continued their relationship, but as members of the group, they didn't have much time for themselves, so he proposed marriage to her. Before she had the time to answer yes, he believed her silence to be a refusal and left, taking a mad Mystique with him (Mystique lost her sanity after Destiny's death). He took care of her for a while, living once again in the Eagle's Nest, but this time it was Lord Fitzroy the one to attack them (looking for points in the Arrivists game), and she got lost.

Forge would later join X Factor, as burocratic chief, in the place of Val Cooper, after the group discovered that she was occulting them information about a new project on the Sentinels, and there he has stayed since then.
