Now, allow
me to expound upon all of this a bit . . .
Have you got wonderful characters
or events brewing and no setting for the story to take place.
Have you ever had the old
writer's block staunch the flow of creativity or just needed someone to
bounce ideas off of.
Your spouse or significant
other has had enough of your story ideas but you feel the need to get it
out of your head by communicating with someone who is interested.
You sometimes need a different
point of view from like-minded individuals in forums that encourage creativity.
William Noble states in the introduction of his book Conflict, Action
& Suspense, "Reader and writer are partners, understanding
one another's needs and aware of one another's expectations so the finished
product satisfies both. Writer expects reader to stay glued to the story
. . . but readers expect writers to fashion a story to which they can stay
glued." If you are interested in fostering that writer/reader partnership
or if any of the other statements above apply, then perhaps The Reader's
Perspective can be of assistance. The intent of this web site is to provide
writers a different point of view and a place where this partnership can
grow. The purpose is not to steal ideas, it is to collaborate and interact
with writers being able to go away and create from a different perspective.
It is sometimes extremely
difficult for me to look at my work objectively. I know the punch lines
or the back ground for what is written because I wrote it. In my own mind,
I know the answers to all the questions and can not be sure that the reader
will be presented with the information that I want to get across. Will
they find interesting, that which I wish them too? Will they be shocked
or surprised by what I intend to shock or surprise them.
It is difficult to gauge how
your reader will respond to what you have written. The Reader's Perspective
intends to bring writers and "Active Readers" together in order to provide
writers the point of view of the reader. Several readers in fact. There is
a point of distinction here. What the Perspective offers is not a critique
or literary analysis. Instead, it offers direct feedback on what the reader
feels about what writers have written. The Reader's Perspective.
By the way, what about that "and
no setting for the story to take place," business? The Reader's Perspective
has a new forum, Collaborative Space, that intends to develop alternate realities for fun and for
the use of Speculative Fiction writers.
