This section
of the staircase apparently hasn't seen any restoration in quite a long
time. The top of the steps merges with a path which is almost visible
in the upper left corner of this picture.
Actually, as I write this
(Jan. 2001), the entire old staircase has been completely replaced with
new
wooden steps. I think
they're harder to climb now, especially if you're carrying a bicycle.
