Marina Sirtis

Marina Sirtis, who played Counselor Deanna Troi on Star Trek The Next Generation from 1987-1994, was born in London of Greek parents on March 29, 1959. After graduating from the Guild Hall School of Music and Drama, she worked entensively in British tv (Sherock Holmes, Hazel, Hunter, Masterpiece Theater, and Raffles); in British theater (Manlet, Rocky Horror Show), and in British films (Wicked Lady, One Last Game, Blind Date) and Death Wish III.

Commander Deanna Troi, the daughter of a human father and Betazed mother (Lwaxana Troi). she graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2359 and joined the Enterprise-D in 2364. She advises Captain Picard, is a close friend of Beverly Crusher, and an ex-lover of Cdr Bill Riker. Important Troi episodes include: Haven (prearrnged marriage), the Child (Deanna used by alien to be born human); The Loss (empathic bindness); Disaster (Deanna in command); Face of An Enemy (Deanna kidnapped and transformed into a Romulan to help defectors); The Disaster (Deanna tests for command); Violations (Deana is a victim of mind rape); Man of the People (Deanna ages rapidly when a Lumerian negotiator dumps his negative thoughts on her) and Eye of Beholder (Deanna and Worf investigate suicide).
