Tyria Sarkin Book appearances X-Wing # 5: Wraith Squadron Aaron Allston Affliations Tyria is a original member of the New Republic's Wraith Squadron. A group of commandos also trained to fly x-wing snubfighters founded under the command of Wedge Antilles, Wraith Squadron was recruited from the misfits and washouts of the New Republic military. A native of the planet Toprawa, Tyria was trained a member of the Antarian Rangers. Founded in ancient times to aid the Jedi Knights, the Antarian Rangers are decribed as 'loyal, reliable warriors' trained to master any environment. The Rangers were hunted to extinction along with the Jedi. Additionally, through the centuries, there was intermarrying between the Jedi and the Rangers, possibly giving some Rangers like Tyria force sensitivity. However, although it was responsible for her being recruited by the New Republic Academy, Tyria's control over the force is extremely limited. At the New Republic Academy, Tyria trained as an X-Wing pilot, seeking to restore honor to her family and the Rangers. Placed in a unit for pilots needing remedial training, just before final exams, she was pressured to help steal an X-Wing by her unit commander for sale on the blackmarket. He had been falsifying her scores on exams as blackmail. She threatened to turn him in, but this would have meant dismissal for her true scores. Instead, she accepted a a charge of gross insubordination from the commander and asked to be transfered to Wraith Squadron. As a member of the Squadron, through hard work, Tyria became the X-Wing pilot she wanted to be. It was Tyria who suggested Wraith Squadron's name. Links No known links.
