Cutting Links

Before you can cut link off of the coil, you must first stretch the coil such that there is a single wire width between each link. This is easiest done by simply holding one part of the coil steady while stretching the end out. As a rule of thumb, a coil made on a frame of the exact dimensions specified in Setup should exactly fill the entire length of a three foot dowel when properly stretched. It may take a number of tries before you get it just right, but there is a lot of room for error here, and you will not notice the difference in the final product.

Once you've stretched the whole coil, then it's just a matter of slowly guiding it off the dowel with one hand, while the other uses the wire cutters to cut each individual link. Once again, when cutting the links it is important to leave a gap at the open end, about one wire width thick.

Catch each link in a bucket or bin to prepare for use.
