Genetic origin: Rex II asteroid colony, 2156

Prexes:

Asteroid colony, c. 2135 (Zak's donor at approx. 12 years old). Zak witnessed his father and sister (Tara) being taken away to be "reintegrated" (ie. killed) into Rex II. (Fugue)

Zak is the fun-loving, go-with-the-flow computer and cybernetics expert of the Deepwater and is the one to go to when there are problems with the computer. He has seemingly boundless energy and is very confident of his abilities. Popping from one end of the emotional scale to the other is not that unusual for Zak--he changes moods very quickly.

After his first prex, Zak became very bitter about his donor's origins at Rex II and despised their eugenic society. This almost caused him to destroy 2% of the gene bank with samples from citizens of Rex II. He also fears that he is as "evil" as the people that took away his donor's sister and father. (Prime)

Being the expert, Zak is very attached to Gen, the Deepwater's computer. He treats her more as a member of a crew and a person than the computer she really is. For example, in Lullaby, he defended her when the crew contemplated shutting her down.
