Steve earned his Phd in environmental science at Tennessee Technological University. He received his BS from Ferrum and a MS in environmental science and public policy from George Mason University. He did post graduate work at Clemson University.

Steve works for the State of Tennessee in enviromental quality.

Steve and Chie did not have any children.

Steve enjoys outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, skiing, hiking, etc.
