The Next 100 years...1800's
The world will change beyond what Duncan can imagine in the next 100 years. He will meet the teacher that will change his view of war. Duncan will travel to a new frontier, were he will make his home off and on for the next 200 years. At the turn of the 19th century Duncan has been immortal for 178 years, he is now 208 years old. But, the one thing that will not change...there can be only one.
Paris,
France
Gabriel Piton is an immortal friend, but he has gone too far. Duncan has caught him stealing Duchess Montinore's necklace. Piton will not give it up, so they fight. Duncan wins and Piton owes him. |
Bavaria While Duncan is away, Amanda plots with Zachary Blaine to get jewels. She leaves Duncan holding the bag...but Duncan escapes, as she knew he would. But...he loves it????

England Duncan's friend Johnny is accused of murder , soon to be hung for something two immortals did. Duncan takes his place because Johnny has a family and can die permanently. Matlin and Kurlow show up too late...Duncan is hung.

France Duncan enters France with the triumphant British army. He encounters Xavier St.Cloud with his new student Morgan D'estaine. Duncan still remembers St.Cloud killing his friend Hamzer in "1653". They will meet again.

Switzerland While traveling through Switzerland with his friend Brian Cullen the coach is stopped. Brian the best swordsman in all of Europe is challenged by a mortal stranger. He defeats the stranger and catches up with Duncan.

Toulouse Duncan is in the Scottish Regiment of the British Army fighting the forces of Napoleon. After a battle the soldiers are shooting French soldiers that are still alive. Duncan stops them from killing and swears to a dying Frenchman to return his ring to his son.

Napoleon War Duncan tries to save a Scot from being executed. He knows the truth but can not get the leader of the execution squad to listen. Duncan steps in front of the soldier and is killed. Thus ending his career in the Scottish Regiment.

Waterloo Duncan meets the teacher who will change his opinion of war. Darius...who has given up the sword and lives on holy ground, was a great warrior. Until a thousand years ago he took the head of a holy immortal. This brings up the question of how quickenings effect immortals.

Peru Duncan is on an expedition to find an old Indian site in Peru. When he and his guide are captured by a tribe that is not suppose to be there. One of his kind has set himself up as God of this tribe. Another immortal pitfall.

London After some heavy duty partying with Connor. Duncan is in trouble with the Duke, who wants his head for dittilling with his wife. Reagan an immortal bounty hunter seduces Duncan and hands him over to the Duke's men. She finds out he will lose his head for dittilling and helps him escape.

London Duncan acts as second in a duel between his friend Willie and Willie's partner. Duncan threatens Willie if he kills his partner because of his obvious advantage of immortality. It turns out to be a con...Willie has no intention of killing his partner. But...he does leave the country with 100,000lbs.

Paris While in Paris on business, Duncan hears of Grace's departure to Brazil with Carlos Sendaro. He hasn't heard good things about Sendaro. He goes to say good-bye to his former lover, and warn her.

Paris In Paris on business Duncan is caught up in the vampire scare. This turns out to be one of his own kind. The way Nicholas Ward makes his living is marrying rich heiresses. He assures they are heiresses, by killing off anyone else entitled to the estate. |
Europe Duncan is traveling with a band of gypsies. His friend Jacob's wife is raped by a townsman. Because of the bigotry of the people of the town against gypsies. The rapist is believed. Jacob takes the man's life and they hang him. Duncan retrieves the body until Jacob can come back.

Europe Duncan is in love with Carmen, but she reads his palm and finds he will never marry. He will always be alone. He is forced to leave the gypsy camp. He starts to wander again. Interesting: I guess she didn't read his life line...hmmm.

Duncan has left the gypsies and is in Madrid studying with Consone who is also an immortal. Duncan falls in love with a noble Spanish woman. Consone has already asked for her hand in marriage. She agrees to marry Consone to save Duncan's life. |

Duncan returns to see the woman that he loved, as he can not get her out of his mind. He comes too late as Consone has already killed her. |
San Francisco Brian Cullen has had too many challenges. Being the best he is being constantly challenged by both Mortal and immortal. Like a hunted animal fear has taken over, and Brian uses drugs to overcome it. Duncan sees the change in his friend and tries to help. |

Virginia Duncan is helping runaway slaves get North when he encounters his first immortal child. He realizes this child hasn't a chance in the game without his protection. But he must first see his charges to safety. When he returns for the boy...it is too late. An immortal has already taken his head.

Tennessee Duncan has been caught running slaves. He is hung, but luckier his executioner is an immortal who doesn't head hunt. Lucas Desiree hangs Duncan then digs him up and lets him go free.

Maryland Duncan has met a spirited young lady named Bess. As they are doing what comes naturally Bess's finance comes upon them and challenges Duncan to a duel. Bess is accidentally killed by her finance. Duncan guilt ridden takes off for the Mexican Revolution. |

Mexico Duncan fights in the revolution with an immortal who fought beside Spatacus. Paul Karos can't seem to get enough of war. Duncan on the other hand is sickened by it. He meets a Mexican woman tending the wounded. She is killed...But she would do it again...viva la revolution.

South Texas After the war in Mexico Duncan heads north. He is hired by the Texas Rangers as a scout. They are hunting a commanchero named Melvin Koren. Duncan and the rangers catch up with him and his bandits. Koren is killed and buried, Duncan knowing goes to the grave to finish it...but he is too late.

Dakota Territory Moving further North Duncan happens on a man whipping an Indian youth. He saves the youth. Duncan takes him to a doctor in the next town. The doctor has to be reminded of his oath before he treats the boy. The youths owner shows up and the boy accidentally kills him. The boy is killed running away.

Lakota Sioux
Indian Camp Duncan meets Mikina, a Sioux Warrior. He spends time with him and his family. When Mikina is killed Duncan takes on the responsibilities of Mikina's wife Little Deer and their son Kahani. |
Sioux Camp Kern has told Duncan that he led the army to a Sioux Camp earlier in the day. Duncan rushes back to the camp to find everyone dead. Including his soon to be wife Little Deer and the boy he calls his own Kahani.

Pacific Northwest After Duncan is relieved of the hatred, he realizes that he is tired of death. He builds a cabin on holy ground. Connor reminds him that he can not stay out of the game forever. Duncan remains on holy ground healing for 10 years.

Northwest Feeling he would never love again as he loved Little Deer...he meets Sarah. But...she has a secret. She is married. Her husband comes to town to bring her back home. She goes with him...Duncan follows and is killed. When he comes back to life Sarah is terrified of him.

Pacific Northwest Duncan starts a newspaper, and starts to live life again. His friend Tim is being hunted by an immortal named Mako. Tim is wanted for murder that he didn't commit. But, all Mako can see is his job of bringing the young man in. Tim is killed by Mako. |

Northwest There is a cholera outbreak and Duncan bring medicine to Gregor. Gregor loses his friends little boy to the epidemic. He is shot by the boy's father and Duncan gets him out of town. Gregor is having a hard time with mortal death...something he will never know.

San Francisco Duncan is stuck in the middle of one of Amanda's schemes. This time she plays poker with the immortal owner of a casino and wins. Thus starts Kit O'Grady's 120 years of bad luck. And Duncan is still loving it...he really is.
