This a group photo from the Mother's Day Funfly held in 1997 at Red Deer Lake.

Here's a map to find the flying field (sailplanes & electric gliders only) just south of Calgary, Alberta.

Lloyd Lake Field Rules

(from the March 1997 newsletter)

Lloyd Lake, aka Red Deer Lake, is just south of Highway 22X on 112 Street, several kilometres west of the Spruce Meadows corner. The Red Deer Lake Community Association graciously allows us to use their access road through Lloyd Park. Please bear this in mind when driving through the park, keep your speed below 30 kph, watch out for children, and try not to raise too much dust. The caretakers, Richard and Susan Girvan, live there and do appreciate your efforts in this regard. The flying field is on Crown land and is considered a significant wildlife habitat. Keep the noise down (absolutely no gas power planes or model rockets allowed, electrics should be okay), pick up your garbage, and try to stay on the track when driving out to the field. When flying, avoid the park area, we don’t want any planes going down into an unaware crowd of picnickers. If we have visitors, make sure they are aware of the dangers of winch lines and landing aircraft. If the frequency board is out, use it, if not, check frequencies with the other fliers before switching on.
