STAR TREK: The Return (A novel by William Shatner)

Right were Star Trek Generations ends, William Shatner starts his thrilling novel about treachery, betrayal and fight for survival.

Veridian III: A world has been saved, the USS Enterprise 1701-D lies in ruins, and one of the galaxy's greatest heroes rests beneath a simple cairn of rocks on a lonely hillside. But as a legendary Vulcan ambassador comes at last to the grave of his best and dearest friend, the adventure is only beginning.

The Borg and the Romulan Empire have joined forces against the Federation, and their ultimate weapon is none other than James T. Kirk, resurrected by alien science to destroy the Borg's most formidable enemy: Jean-Luc Picard.

The astounding return of Kirk as only William Shatner can tell it!

"Spock looked down the slope towards Kirk's grave. Amber rays spiked out from the rocks of the simple cairn, and he heard an oddly musical chime. The light emanating from the grave brightened, then began to fade as Spock drew an emergency light from his belt and began to descend the slope. He played the light against the cairn and discovered that the rocks had fallen in.

The Grave was empty.

Spock looked to the stars. It was not at all logical, but for a moment a most improbable thought came to him... Perhaps some journeys were never meant to end."

This was only a piece, the book is available at bookstores from Pocket Books Star TrekŪ

The Vigilante (A novel by Larry Nagy)

The battle to avoid Earth being assimilated by the Borg was hard. It was luck what made possible to defeat the Borg ship by entering its neural system and setting a command on its collective intelligence. But next time luck may not be on our side. The only weapon against the Borg is information, all the information that can be gathered about their technology, how it works, where it comes from, and most important, if it has a weak point that can be used in further battles.

This is the goal of a top secret project called The Vigilante, a new cloaked and scanner-invisible ship that will get inside the monster's nest. Its mission: to gather information about the Borg, to try and locate the world where they come from, to discover every weak point on their collective and technology.

A ship heading towards a suicide mission, with a crew specially chosen single, with no family ties, for they may not be able to return. A captain whose first officer and also wife was killed during the battle against the Borg. A lonely heart thirsty of revenge upon those who destroyed everything that he loved in this world. A ship equipped with the latest technology, a new hope against the assimilators of the universe.

"Sir" Lieutenant S'Erlet spoke up.

"Yes. Lieutenant." the Captain replied immediately.

"I'm reading a large number of low energy beam discharges in the hold below us." S'Erlet said as he studied the readouts in front of him.

"What purpose do they have?" Captain Anthony asked adjusting his console to show S'Erlet station.

"They are similar to what Valerta reported before she crashed." S'Erlet said.

"They're looking for us." Anthony said coldly.

"What do we do Sir?" Ensign O'Malley asked as she prepared for the drop.

Anthony's reply was simple "Hold our position." then to S'Erlet "Lieutenant, is there any sequence to their search pattern?"

S'Erlet worked quickly at his console trying to guide the ship's computer through its analysis. "Yes, Sir" he then anticipated the next question "Now predicting gaps in coverage for the next ten minutes and plotting possible course for Z drop."

"Very good." Anthony smiled then added "feed earliest possible course to helm. Ensign, initiate Z drop by S'Erlet's feed."
