UFO's
(Unidentified Flying Objects)
While "UFO" is simply is the proper acronym for "Unidentified Flying Object," many people continue to believe that numerous UFO sightings are more than just flying objects. UFOs are unidentified flying objects, but no one really knows what they are. Many researchers (called "UFOlogists") have theories about what UFOs might be, but because no one can examine a UFO in a scientific laboratory, all of these ideas are really only educated guesses. We can offer a definition of UFO's, however, that you may find useful when you study the subject:
A UFO is realized to be the reported sighting of an object or light seen in the sky or on land, whose appearance, trajectory, actions, motions, lights, and colors do not have a logical, conventional, or natural explanation, and which cannot be explained, not only by the original witness, but by scientists or technical experts who try to make a common sense identification after examining the evidence.
This definition, however, is less commonly understood among the general public. The idea of a UFO being seen was first developed for military purposes. Common UFO's of that time were known to be unidentified aircraft, prior to visual or audible confirmation of the aircraft classification/intentions. It was not until June 25, 1947, when a private pilot and fire-control-equipment salesman from Boise, Idaho, Kenneth Arnold, was flying over Mount Rainier, Washington. During his flight, Mr. Arnold witnessed a bring flash of light. During the next thirty seconds, he frantically searched the sky for the lights source afraid that he was about to collide with another airplane. Shortly after the first blast of light, he saw a second. When he looked in its direction, Arnold spotted nine objects, with the lead at a higher elevation than the rest, streaking south over Mount Baker towards Mount Rainier. Watching their progress, Arnold calculated their approximate speed to be at 1,700 miles per hour. Even when he arbitrarily shaved 500 miles per hour off that estimate, he was dealing with an impossible speed figure!
The nine objects that he saw, darting in and out of the smaller peaks of the surrounding mountains, periodically flipped on their sides in unison. As they did so, the sunlight reflected off their lateral surfaces thus explaining the flashes that had first caught his attention to the crafts. Following the unidentified objects across the sky for two and a half minutes, they disappeared, heading south over Mount Adams. This sightings of unidentified flying saucers in the sky marked the beginning to the age of correlation between UFOs in general and flying saucers.
As reporters, editors, and writers coined Arnolds description of the craft flying saucers numerous sightings of UFOs in that shape were uncovered and happened in the days, months, and years to follow. Sightings of this kind continue to this day, and have been shown to occur even before the famous Kenneth Arnold sighting in Washington State.
Much speculation as to what unexplained UFOs and flying saucer objects seen in the sky generally are has ranged from ideas of time machines from the future going back in time to see life in the past to the idea of alien life forms visiting Earth in advanced spacecraft. What are UFOs and flying saucers? Can every account of UFOs and mysterious sightings be written off, explained, and covered up? The government thinks so. From 1947 to 1969, the Air Force investigated Unidentified Flying Objects under the title PROJECT BLUE BOOK. Will we ever know what those cases of UFO sightings that could in no way be explained by science really were? Well, until we do, I urge you to view my collection of PHOTOGRAPHS OF UFO's. Maybe you can make draw conclusion yourself rather than letting the government do it for you.
