Sand is playing some kind of stringed instrument with her hands. A crowd of children dance about her. She has black hair and brown eyes. She wears a purple shirt, green pants and a brown cloak. She looks intently beyond your shoulder, far into the distance, as if peering into the Shadows themselves. Perhaps she is concentrating on the music.
Sand has been long away from Amber. She and her brother Delwin, who has not returned, left when Oberon's policies toward their mother's Shadow aroused their anger. Rather than risk death opposing their father, they departed into Shadow. No one had heard from them again until PatternFall, when Sand returned to Amber during the massive Shadow storm following Oberon's death.
Sand appears to have some reputation for wielding magic and power. Certainly her mother, Oberon's second wife, was well-known to be a sorceress good enough to impress Oberon, if not pliable enough to allow Amber's intentions for her Shadow to go unchallenged. In the long ages since her departure, anything reported of Sand is merely speculation. Detailed reports or even anecdotes concerning Sand are hard to come by.
In personal bearing she seems no more arrogant than any other Amberite, if perhaps a trifle more condescending and long-winded about it.
Now that she has taken up residence in the castle, the sound of her instrument is liable to be heard at any hour of the day or night, whispering through the hallways.
