Side View of the Temple -- Deir el-Bahri

Here's a shot I took as we were heading for the temple of Anubis. Off to the left is where the rest of the complex once was, but is no more.

One of the things that once stood there was the great temple of Thutmosis III. As you'll recall from Karnak, Hatshepsut kept him from the throne until after her death, and then he went after everything she'd ever made and either covered it up or put his own name on it.

So the fact that her mortuary temple survived -- while his clearly didn't -- is a wonderful irony. Of course, he put his own name on it..., but we know the truth, don't we?
