The day that we went to see Deir el-Bahri, we had to get up extra early since we were also going to hit the Valley of the Kings and the Colossi of Memnon. Everyone was grumbling and a little tired, having done Karnak and Luxor the day before, but it was really worth it. We got to see the Sun rise and shine its morning light on the temple itself -- well worth getting up super early any day.

Oh, yeah -- and we were the first tour group on the scene, which meant we didn't have to jostle for a good look at anything. There are other, more practical advantages to being up early, too...
