The car was simply too slow with the 1600!.
Plans now are to fit a fast 2L Pinto with twin sidedrafts etc
etc etc! Firstly i will fit a mildly worked 2L with standard re-jetted
single carb as the 45's are very expensive. I will add them to
a more worked head and larger cam and bolt it to my block at a
later date.
I want to do some other jobs such as modify
the seat mounts so the seats sit back about 2-3 inches. (im too
tall for this car!) Anyone know an easy way to do this? The normal
2L jobs need to be done such as battery to the boot (to make way
for the webers :)) And tunnel / radiator mount mods need to be
carried out too.
I made some other improvements to the car
prior to taking the motor out such as moving the guages from around
the steering column to up on the dashpad and replacing the el-cheapo
tacho with an Autometer version. Escort fans will also notice
i fitted a much better centre console to take my stereo. The stereo
is currently a sony cd/tuner with 6.5 components in the front
and 6x9's in the back... sounds ok but soon i will add a sub and
amp.
Other things i want to do b4 stage 2 is
complete is redo my suspension properly. Fit Nolathane bushes,
decent shocks and reset the leaf springs. I would like to fit
15" wheels if i can sell the us-800's... or i may get them
chromed? Not sure yet.
