In Mortal Kombat Annihilation, Johnny Cage was killed by Shao Kahn. After Liu Kang killed Shao Kahn, Johnny Cage's soul was free to roam around the heavens. From the heavens Cage watches his friends fight to protect the Elder Gods. Since he wanted to help, he searched for Rayden to restore his soul to his body. When he has his soul restored he goes out to fight with Earth's forces.
