Charmed is about three sisters, Prue, Piper and Phoebe Halliwell, who, after the death of their grandmother, find out that they are witches. They are known as the Charmed Ones and they are the most powerful witches on Earth. But since they only just came into their powers, they're still not up to full strength.
Prue has the power to move objects with her mind. Piper can freeze time. And Phoebe can see the future. Because of these powers, many warlocks and demons are out to get them. To steal their powers and kill them.
In the first season, the sisters have two unknowing detectives on their side, Inspector Andy Trudeau and Detective Daryl Morris. Andy had a past with Prue and was trying to rekindle a romance between them, but Prue's secret keeped getting in the way, though he eventually finds out her secret. As for Piper, she fell for a handyman named Leo White. He turned out to be a Whitelighter, a type of Guardian Angel for witches. Because of this, their love was forbiden. And Phoebe, she's still looking for love, though she has a habit for falling for Prue's and Piper's boyfriends.
In the second season, Andy's been killed, and Morris finds out about the sisters. A guy named Dan moves in next door and has his eye on Piper. Prue get a new power, the power of Astral Projection, she can make herself be in two places at once. And Leo gets his wings temporarily clipped.
In the third season, there's a new guy in town and his name is Cole Turner, the Assistant District Attorney. Unknown to the sisters, Cole is actually a demon working for the Triad and trying to get close to them so he can destroy them. Meanwhile, Phoebe is falling for him and finds herself with a new power, the power to levitate.
After falling in love with Phoebe, Cole no longer wants to hurt the sisters and he vanquishes the Triad and now he is being hunted for his crimes. Cole is also faced with proving to Prue, Piper and Phoebe that he wants to change because of his love for Phoebe. Meanwhile, Piper and Leo finally say "I do", and Piper, finally, gets a new power, the power of explosion, she can make things explode.
In the third season cliff-hanger, Prue and Piper were left for dead after Phoebe made a deal with The Source to stay in the underworld so Tempest would turn back time and undo the sisters exposure on TV. Now in the fourth season opener, we find out Prue has died, and at her funeral, long-lost sister Paige Matthews shows up. Paige, being the daughter of the girls mother Patty, and her Whitelighter, Sam, has the powers of Orbing, and Tele-Orbing (telekenetic orbing).
By season's end, Paige is able to orb on command and is becoming very proficiant with magic. Piper finds out she is expecting her first child. And Phoebe has been married, inpregnated, found out she was married to the Source, been crowned Queen of the Underworld, been widowed, and carried a demonic child and had it magically stolen by the Seer. And, after vanquishing the Source three times, they have been offered the chance to relinquish their powers, though they decline the offer. But through it all, Piper and Phoebe have become a lot closer to Paige, and though they will always love and miss Prue, they know their destiny as witches has been fulfilled and they are ready to face the new magical chanlenges that await them.
In the fifth season, Piper is going through some pregnancy wowes. First she finds herself burping up orbs, and then ends up getting her powers switched by her unborn baby just for starters. Phoebe is finally getting over Cole, but he's not over her. And he constantly tries to get her back until he goes too far and Paige gets sent to an alternate reality after a botched vanquishing spell, and is able to finally get rid of Cole. Paige meanwhile has quit her job and is trying to become a "Super Witch" and occasionaly uses her Whitelighter ability to morph. But after an encounter with her estranged biological father, Sam, she realizes she shouldn't push away her Whitelighter half in favor of her Witch half.
The day has finally arrived, and Piper goes into labour. Meanwhile all magic has disappeared and demons are trying to get their hands on Piper's baby as it's being born. As Piper finally gives birth, she finds out that the little girl she thought she was having is actually a little boy. And after weeks of trying to come up with a name, she names him Wyatt, after his father, Matthew, after his aunt Paige, and Halliwell, for her and Phoebe. And before too long they find out Wyatt Matthew Halliwell has his very own protective force-field and he can orb.
Now as the season comes to an end, Piper, Phoebe and Paige are made into Greek Goddesses by Leo, who, because of a mysterious Whitelighter from the future named Chris Perry, has become an Elder. But not much is know about Chris or his motives. And just as Leo is orbing "Up There", Chris sends him into another realm.
As the sixth season starts off, Piper is in an extremely good mood. So much so that she is driving her sisters crazy and worrying the heck out of them. They know they have to find Leo, and Chris is trying to stall them. But when they finally get Leo back, Piper tells him that he can't come around anymore. He's an Elder now, and Piper has to figure out how to be a single mother.
Leo, not really able to let go of his family, and still wondering what Chris is up to, sticks around to spy on Chris and watch over Wyatt when Piper's not around. Paige finds herself a new beau in the form of magic-addict witch, Richard Montana. Phoebe, meanwhile, has developed the power of Empathy. And she's driving everyone insane. But Chris has found a solution. While trying to hide his own feelings from her, he gets an Empath blocking potion that Leo confiscates, but later Chris turns the tables on Leo, telling the sisters that Leo got it for them.
Chris remains a mystery for months, his secrets coming out slowly, but in big chunks. First, the sisters find out he's half witch, half Whitelighter, like Paige. Then a few months later, Phoebe goes on a vision quest, seeing herself pregnant and in the company of her sisters and Wyatt and his little brother. It doesn't take her long to figure out that it's Chris. Paige finds out soon after. But neither are very happy to hear that they have to help Piper and Leo get back together so Chris can be conceived, since it was Chris who broke them up in the first place. But once the deed is done, Leo leave to be with the Elders, not knowing he has another son. Piper on the other hand is shocked.
Chris at first resists Piper's attempts to get close, but after a talk with his grandfather, Victor, he decides it would be better to get to know her again. And as things wind up, Leo finds himself called back to help his sons. Sons! He's shocked to find out about Chris at last. Now all the pieces fit together. And it's becoming a race to save Wyatt from turning evil. After a premature celebration, when they are lead to believe they saved him, the true threat is made clear. It's Gideon, Leo's one time mentor. He believes that Wyatt is too powerful and that he has to be stopped now. In his attempt to get Wyatt, Gideon mortally wounds Chris, and the world is turned inside out. Everyone is overly cheerful, and even the smallest indecency calls for a death sentence.
In the middle of all this craziness, Piper goes into labor. And while Phoebe and Paige wait anxiously, Leo goes after Gideon, to avenge Chris and save Wyatt. In his great evil act, Leo also restores the balance in the world. When he returns to his family, Phoebe and Paige are waiting, and the doctor greets them with the news that Piper and baby Christopher are fine. It looks like they didn't loose Chris after all.
As season seven starts out, it's time for a lot of adjusting. What with baby Chris around, Leo back, and a new suitor for Phoebe. Not to mention a new threat looming that has even the Elders worried. Of course Leo manages to get roped into the fight. After losing Adult Chris and being betrayed by Gideon, Leo has lost his way. And the new power has come looking for him. The new power, The Avatars, want Leo to join him. When he finally does, he finds himself with more power then he ever imagined and a new hope that the Avatars can create a Utopian world with now more demons.
Out of all this, Paige finds herself a new love interest in the form of Homeland Security Agent Kyle Brody. Who, when he was little, saw his parents killed by demons because of a potion they found. And he has been on a quest to find the Avatars ever since.
Phoebe's new suitor is Leslie St. Claire. A ghost write Elise hired to replace Phoebe while she is on her sabbatical. But like all her other recent loves, this one doesn't last very long. Making her wonder if she will get pregnant like she foresaw. But an encounter with a demonic seer shows her that she has a little girl in her future.
When the Avatars Utopia takes form, Leo realizes that free will has been taken away. And he does what he can to stop it. He forces Phoebe to remember all the pain of pasts losses, so she can help her sisters remember. Soon they are joining forces with Zankou, a newly released and very powerful demon, to defeat the Avatars. But as the Avatars reverse the change, sadly, they are unable to go back far enough to save Kyle. But because of his willingness to stop the Avatars, the Elders have rewarded him, he has become a Whitelighter. And so he and Paige part ways.
With the Avatars gone, it's Zankou's turn to try to take out the Charmed Ones. But first Leo gets his judgement from the Elders. He is sent to Earth as a mortal, and he has to pick his path. If he finds his way back to the sisters, he will remain mortal, but if his path leads him to the Elders, he will have to leave his family forever. But as this is happening, Piper finds herself in limbo, with an unexpected spirit, Cole. He tells her she has to die to bring Leo back to her, but she is reluctant, not trusting him. Cole claims he just wants Phoebe to find her faith in love again, and Piper and Leo's love is the best way to do that. Piper finally gives in. Leo, who was tricked by the Elders, is summoned by Phoebe and Paige on top of the bridge. When Piper's dyeing cry reaches him, he falls from grace and becomes mortal again. When they return home, Wyatt has healed his mother.
Now, with Leo mortal, and the sisters unprotected by a Whitelighter or Elder, Zankou goes after the sisters. He learns as much about them as he can, and then goes after the Nexus. After a few attempts, he finally gets it's but the sisters have one last trick up their sleeves. It's do or die, and the sisters know it and say their goodbyes. Soon they are facing Zankou over the Nexus, and Homeland Security is watching outside. The sisters wait for Zankou to take in the Shadow, and then say the spell to vanquish the Nexus, exploding the basement as they do. Darryl and Homeland security rush into the house, and go to the basement, seeing the debris, they believe the sisters are dead. But outside, the sisters see Leo, and reveal that the Astral Projected inside to say the spell, and now, as they were dead to the world, it was time for them to disappear and get the next generation ready. So with that they glamour themselves and Leo and walk away.
As the eighth and final season opens, the sisters realize that they have to stick to one disguise because all the changing is hard on Wyatt and Chris. So they decide to become the Bennett cousins, Jenny, Julie, and Jo. And Leo becomes Louis. But there new identities aren't foolproof. Soon Paige's Whitelighter half is being summoned by one of her charges. And this new charge, Billie Jenkins, stumbles upon the sisters and figures them out. So with a new protégée to do the demon fighting for them, sisters try to relax.
But things don't go as smoothly as they'd like. Demons keep coming, and they are forced to deal with them. And while in disguise, Phoebe has a premonition that she will marry a man that works in her building. With a little magical assist from Billie, it comes true. So now, the sisters are all feeling like they want their lives back, and with Homeland Security still on their case, they reveal themselves and make a deal. Homeland Security gives them their identities back, and they help with some unsolved cases.
During all this, Billie finally remembers details about when her sister, Christy, went missing fifteen years ago. And now she is determined to find her. But no sooner does she find a lead, then she loses it because the Angel of Death is after Leo. The sisters make a deal with the Angel of Destiny to freeze Leo using Billie's demon, so they can get him back after they fight they're last big battle.
Once Leo is gone, Piper works extra hard to maintain her cool and keep it together. Trying to find the threat and take care of her boys. Paige has met a new beau, Parole Officer Henry Mitchell. He even surprises her when he completely accepts her witchy secret. Phoebe meanwhile decides it's finally time to move out.
With Christy finally found and safe at the manor, Phoebe in her new condo, and Paige and Henry engaged, things seem to be looking up. That is until they find out that Christy is the Key to the Ultimate Power. Phoebe believes that perhaps Christy and Billie are there to help them vanquish this last foe. But soon they discover that The Triad is back and out to get them. Both sides know it's three against three, and they have to take at least one out to get the others. The sisters prepare themselves, and Paige sais goodbye to Henry, just in case she doesn't come back. The sisters then go to magic school to battle the Triad. They manage to vanquish two of them, but Leo has not returned, and so Piper believes there must be more to it then that. Upon returning home, Paige tells them to turn the engagement party into a wedding.
Now with both Phoebe and Paige out of the house, Piper is feeling a little empty nest syndrom coming on and mother's Christy and Billie, driving Christy a little mad. Phoebe's got herself a magical being following her around in the form of Coop The Cupid. He was sent to her by the Elders to help her find her faith in love again. But she finds herself more and more attracted to the handsome Cupid every day.
Billie finally gets her parents back in town and convinces Christy to go see them. But before she can get to close to them, the last surviving Triad kills them. In a rage, Christy goes to the last Triad and kills him, proving she is finally ready to join with the Ultimate Power, Billie. She soon begins turning Billie against the sisters. Once that is started, they also start turning the magical world against them as well.
Piper is the first to realize that Billie and Christy are the ones they have to fight. Paige reluctantly accepts it, but Phoebe is still holding out, hoping it's not true. But then she is forced to accept it, though she still can't imagine that she has to kill Billie.
Christy and Billie know that they will need help to defeat the Charmed Ones. So they go after the only thing that has enough power to defeat them, The Hollow. Christy and Billie know they don't have the power to summon the Hollow by themselves, so Billie gets Wyatt to help them. But the sisters go after it as well. The Hollow then splits into five to enter the two sets of sisters. Once the Hollow has infected Billie and Christy, they steal Wyatt's powers, but he is orbed out of harms way by Chris, who is safe at Grandpa Victor's. Now all five sisters meet at the Manor and proceed to vanquish each other. It almost works to well. Three of the five sisters are dead, leaving only Piper and Billie to fight another day.
Leo is returned to Piper, but she has lost everything. Her sisters are dead and the Manor is in ruins. They return to Victor's, where Coop goes to see her, and finds out Phoebe is dead. Piper then takes Coop's ring and uses it to go through time, picking up, first her mother, Patty, then Grams, in an attempt to reconstruct the Power of Three. They then go to the Manor, just in time to see the battle take place one more time. This time, the battle goes differently, Piper, Patty and Penny manage to send the Hollow back to where it came from. To Piper's surprise, Billie has also gone back in time, and time then catches up to the two.
Billie and Christy leave, and the Angel of Destiny comes back for Leo, since now the battle hasn't truly taken place. But the sisters are soon greeted by a surprise visit from the future by Wyatt and Chris. It seems that Wyatt lost his power and Chris had to save him. They then cast a spell that brought them back to this time to find out what happened. The boys then take Patty with them to see Victor, while Piper, Phoebe and Paige try to figure out what to do about Billie and Christy.
Meanwhile, Billie realizes that Christy isn't what she thought she was, and that the Triad was behind everything. Billie then goes back to the Manor and offers to help the sisters defeat the Triad once and for all. But it seems too late, Christy and Dumain have stolen Coop's ring and used it to go back in time. The sisters, however, use Billie's projection power so the four of them can go back in time as well. They find Christy, two Dumains and the Triad at Magic School and after vanquishing the Dumains and the Triad, Billie is left to vanquish Christy after she attacks them. With everything set right once more, the sisters return home. The Angel of Destiny arrives with Leo and tells them that was how the battle was supposed to end.
As the series winds down, each sister writes her story in the Book. Phoebe tells of getting Magic School back from the demons, marrying Coop, and having the daughter she had foreseen, along with two other little girls. Paige writes of how she keeps preparing the next generation, and how she and Henry have twin girls and Henry Jr. Piper recounts how, Leo is around to help take care of they three children. She finally had that little girl she had seen so many years ago. And how, with Magic School back, Leo has been teaching there. And finally how she becomes the new Grams, with all her grandchildren, who are getting ready themselves for the day when it will be there turn to fight evil, like all the generations before them.
