Pulling yourself completely through the translucent wall wasn't such a bad idea after all. Except now, you're in a room shaped much like a tower. Thick walls of stone surround you in a flawlessly black barrier, with no exit, and no entrance. The way you came in is now as solid as the floor you stand upon. In frustration, you fall to your knees, ready to yell any curses that willingly come, but as your knees touch the ground, a series of little yelps spring from the darkness. With these sounds you hop to your feet, and swing about wildly to find the source of the startling noises. Like the flicking of a switch, a yellowing haze, similar to light, floods the cilindrical room. With a blink you note the light is coming from clumps of tiny mushrooms that grow in profusion about the floor and on the walls. A little stunned by these botanical lanterns, you soon recover your composure and begin to look for a way out again in the newfound glow.
WATCH IT, WOULD YA?!
Fairly leaping back you peer wide eyed at the angry voice's source. One of the larger mushrooms. A tiny slit serves as a mouth, and two tiny beadlike black dots appear to be its eyes.
Whatcha staring at buddy?!
Wow. A rude mushroom with an apparent New York accent. Rubbing your eyes, you back up as every one of the yellow capped fungi turn to look at you measuringly. You begin to wonder exactly how long it takes for someone to become compost, but a small mushroom pipes up cheerily.
Looking for a way out, are ye?
You nod dumbly as the rest of the fungi shift, hopping like children in a sack race until they all rest to one side of the circle in a pile of hazy yellow. A lean skinny mushroom seems to grin.
Look up.
Glancing up a bright shaft of light momentarily blinds you. A way out! Finally! Industriously you begin to try to scale the high slippery walls. Falling flat on your backside, and none to softly either, the same fungus smirks.
So what now?
