Subject : The parabolic Reflector dish

This web site is dedicated to the Science project called TO HEAR OR NOT TO HEAR. A project investigating the construction of a Parabolic Sound Relfector, the improvement of that reflector, and the comparison between various Reflectors to better appreciate the inherent qualities associated with each design.

This site is based on the use of a home made Parabolic sound reflector in the observatiuon and recording of Birds in their natural environments. However the site also contians the exeriments conducted to obtain the best Parabolic sound reflector for such a use. And how to construct ones own dish, valued at less then $30.

Parabolic sound reflector - Device that enhances and amplifies soundaudible to the human ear. This device consists of a parabaloid - hence the name - shaped dish, a microphone and a simple amplifing unit.
