The smell of acclimated blood filled her nostrils, as soon as her feet hit the sand. It was dark & beautiful, and the moon was full. She had them set up nicely, knowing the right people helped her out frequently. She watched him take it all in, smelling the air, watching the mortals everywhere. He thought he was in heaven. Josie knew he needed discipline desparately if he was going to succeed in maintaining his own safety. He know to know the importance of not being sloppy, careless or overly confident. It can cost you. They had a nice stroll on the beach, talking & kissing. They sat in the sand watching the moon rise across the ocean. She was lost within the moment, forgetting who she was momentarily. He seemed more sleepy than usual, so she coaxed him to bed. This gave her an opportunity to find little miss Sara.
She could withstand a few hours in the sun with sunblock & a nice hat, so she jetted down town searching for this woman. In a trendy downtown hair salon, she found her enemy. So, she made an appointment.
It was late the next night when Josie strolled into the abandoned hair boutique. Sara was alone. Josie studied her the entire time she cut & played with her hair. But her carefree mood soon turned into panic when she saw Josie's hair grow right back before her eyes. Josie clutched her by the throat, whispering into her ear. "The only woman who is capable of taking care of Frank is me, do you understand? You are in my way." she screamed. Sara, cried, pleading for her life. In the height of the moment, while Josie played cat & mouse with Sara, the pitter patter of little feet distracted Josie momentarily. She knew something was wrong, one quick snap of her arm, and Sara was dead. Josie crept through the shop, searching for the distraction. She remembered Sara's eyes before she stole her life, they spoke to her for a moment. And they told her fear, fear she had for another....and as Josie rounded the next corner, she saw him. Sara's son, and by the look of his ice blue eyes....Frank's son also. What was Josie to do now? She bent down, and touched the little boy's hand. "I'm sorry sweetie, I had no idea." She whispered, wiping a tear. It hurt her, she wouldn't have felt any guilt had it not been for the child. The child changed everything. Her intentions were only to protect her new lover. She was afraid he would learn his new power & leave the comfort of her arms. She feared he would abandon her once he realized he really didn't need her to live. She only wanted happiness. Now she was afraid of what to do with this heir of his. She felt maybe to use as insurance, she could carefully tuck Jr. away in an elite boarding school, training him all the while. It would insure daddy stays where he needs too. She rubbed her chin & smiled, "C'mon Gaberial, your going to a brand new place and you're going to just love it." she said in the sincerest tone. She could only laugh at herself for such a sensitivity, she didn't know she even possessed. Josie thought she had rid herself of the possible competition Sara could have brought. But did she rid herself of the problem altogether? Guilt can manifest itself in many ways...it began with her by eating at her insecurities. It would plague on them.
Each night around midnight, Josie & Frank would scout a new place to show him the ropes. At first, it was subtle the attention he got. But soon enough, it raged beyond even Josie's control. People adored him, he could charm the pants off the pope, everyone loved him. Everywhere Josie took him, he was the center of attention. As time wore on, this began to eat at Josie. For it was she, who was used to being the center of attention in her world. But now she wasn't, not even the center of Frank's world. She came home, angry at herself every night, although she didn't let him know it. She couldn't tell if it would be a real problem or if it would go away on its own. She would just have to wait for a little while & see what happens.
She arose the next evening to find her lover on the terrace gazing at the surf. Before he noticed she was there, she quickly read his thoughts. He was thinking of Sara. It irritated her to know he was thinking of her during personal moments. She felt he should be sharing them with her, instead. It had happened other times too. A tear streamed down her cheek. She thought she would have an unbreakable bond with Frank, but instead stood petrified, frightened by what lay ahead for her. She thought she had control in the situation. He was escaping her & so was the control. It pissed her off, because she already felt like she owned him completely. He owed her everything for the new life she gave him, and she wouldn't let go so easily. She wasn't giving up without a hell of a fight.
She watched him come out of his shell, into a new skin. One he fit into quite comfortably. Many times she spent watching him. It was in those moments that she knew she had done the right thing. He was free. But sometimes, she caught him thinking of a way he could find out how Sara was. It urked her tremendously. It also eased her guilt for what she had done to Sara too. Since all this weighed heavy on her, she deceided to get a journal & help relieve all that was trapped inside her. She began to describe her life upon the starchy pages of a hardback journal. She had no real friends, so it became her confidant, carefully posessing the most important thoughts & feelings of her vampire heart. Keeping one, posed quite a risk if it fell into the wrong hands. But it was a risk she decided to take.
Early one evening before her new lover arose, she browsed through his belongings in his study. She ran her fingers loosely over the papers on his desk, fumbling until she unearthed what appeared to be a journal. She couldn't resist the temptation to open & read it. It would give her the opportunity to see things through his eyes. She was not prepared for what she was about to learn. The first page made references to his first sexual encounter....and it was not the alleged Sara. Disbelief engulfed Josie. In the beginning, she thought her Priest was a virgin, then learned of his affair with Sara,...now this. She was beginning to feel like a fool. She had lived too many years to be mistaken for a naive, little vamp. Perhaps it was time to even the score, maybe it was time he find out what exactly happened to his little miss Sara. Not to mention she had an ace up her sleeve with Gaberial, the son he knew nothing about. But in order to savor the sweet taste of revenge, he had to come into the knowledge all by himself, without knowing of Josie's involvement. Simple enough to Josie, she was a pro at this kind of remedial deception. So the first step was to arm herself with knowledge. She continued to read further into the dark side of her fallen priest.
Finding out his hidden secrets, watching him blossom into an elite socialite-type of vampire, was making Josie retreat within herself. This brought about a breakdown in communication between her & Frank. She began to hold things in, resent him. This began to eat away at her, and their relationship. But the sexual side, suffered not. They always got along fabulously between the sheets. He noticed she was changing & withdrawing, but he didn't know how exactly to bring her back out of this shell she was in. He was confused as to why she built a wall between them. All he knew to do was try his best to satisfy her. And she had one stealthy appetite. But he was devoted to her, and she was about to find out just how much.
As she watched him discover himself over again, she noticed just how far she herself, had come. It would be many years before he reached the level she had acheived. Could she wait long enough...did she have enough patience? These were questions she began asking herself when she could no longer control her new lover. He began to disrespect her, talk down to her, after all she had given him. He showed dissatifaction with her, and often defied her. No matter what he did, she gave in to him. It slowly began to destroy her. Everything about her that made her so unique began to dissolve. She couldn't even recognize herself after awhile. He grew as a vampire, but grew away from her. He sucked her dry of her emotions, much like he did his prey. She became jealous & distrustful of him, unlike her secure nature. She hated who she had become & questioned herself once again, "Have I made a mistake?". She couldn't bare to think after all the years of experience she had, how could one mortal man undo all the hard work. She reached the point where she did not know if they were even going to last. She thought she still loved him, but really didn't know. All the qualities that made her fall in love with him no longer existed. He had turned into a controlling young vampire, barking commands & making demands. It was then she realized she'd spoiled him way too much. He acted like a prince, or royal brat of some kind. And yet he remarked it was she, who thought she was a princess. Her life in reality was far from any fairy tale she knew of. She was disgusted by his remarks & attitude. She wanted to teach him a lesson, punish him a little for misbehaving. She was tired of him controlling her, shifting the burden to others, and basically turning her life upside down. He seemed ungrateful for all the things she'd done & given him. She had given him a new life, after-all, he should be forever indebted. Her mind drifted to memories of him when she first spent time with him. The times she watched him sleep under her black sheets, his long body peeking out. The sweet innocence of his curiosity with her, fading. She missed his little noises of pleasure when she hit all the right spots during their feverish sexual encounters. She used to get high from bagging him while he was still a priest. It made her feel wicked as hell. He made such sexy noises & cute faces whle she ate him alive. How much she loved watching him. Now it only made her heart mourn, because she felt those feelings no more. It seemed their love was dying. And she asked herself another hard question...."Was it over?"
To resolve her problem she took a small holiday, to re-group her thoughts. She left him to be for a few days. Savannah was the temporary exile of choice. It was while she was away that she was able to realize her feelings for him. Even though he wasn't perfect, he was her prince. She felt silly, it sounded so corny, but she loved him very much, that she knew. It seemed he had bad situations arise around him constantly, putting his trust with her in jeopardy almost monthly. It stressed her out to have to question him repeatedly. The entire relationship was taxing her out. All she needed to do was regain control. But like another young vamp she once knew....they do have mind of their own.
When she returned she found him ready to give up on their relationship. He blamed her & rendered her the selfish one in the situation. He lashed out at her again & again, saying terrible things to break her once-unbreakable heart. She grew angry for how he spoke to her, the disrespect in his tone, the cold in his eyes. She knew then she had lost him. She had let time escape her & it only built a gap between them. This time she knew he was really separating from her. Another failed attempt, how she hated the feeling. It was all to familar. The immense pain she felt propelled her into a full blown rage. She undoubtedly took every bit of it out on Frank. She clutched him in her frenzy, screaming to him about his ignorance of everything! "How clueless you are of all that be," she shouted. "You know nothing of this life I gave you." "Your not worthy!" She threw him into her coffin, locking it with chains, as she listened to his muffled cries. She lay his old rosary upon the lid, softly whispering, "I rule this world, little boy, you have no manners, nor respect for your God? I, made you, not your so-called god. I made you....remember?" Sitting upon the coffin, she decided he needed to learn his lesson. She shoved him, coffin & all, into the basement of her domain. As she stepped back through the door, she murmured she'd be back for him...some night, and shut the door.
