Episode 5: Blast Off



In this episode, the characters are finaly ready to leave Tatooin, so they think.... An ISB squad traces the characters to their ship, then an orbital frigate wishes to board their ship.

In Mos Eisly, the characters arrive, and it is very late at night. However, just as everybody boards the ship, an ISB agent and a squad of army troopers enter the docking bay. Read aloud:
Ready to leave? For some reason, flight conrol is refusing you clearance. Then a squad of eight black uniformed army troopers enter the docking bay with some officer."Attention, this is ISB agent Mithel! Come out with the droid or we will have to blast you!"
Okay, so leaving Tatooine will not be so easy. There is one umbilical cord from the ship that needs to be detatched manualy, and quickly. The troopers are ready for a surrender, with pistos drawn. Mithel will say things like "Come unarmed and no one gets hurt.", but if there is resistance, he says things like, "That ship must not take off! Blast them!". Getting the umbillicals detatched is simple, but the character(s) must move to it without getting shot at. He may want cover fire.

The task of evading Mithel should be easy. However, once the characters' ship enters orbit, a customs frigate wishes to inspect the characters' ship. Mithel was unable to get a positive I.D. on the characters' ship, so the custom frigate doesn't know that the characters blasted out. However, between the frigate's captain, and Mithel, they'll be able to determine that the characters' ship is the one they want within two minutes (24 rounds). The characters' ship must travel 50 space units in order to enter hyperspace. As you can see, the characters have several options.

Hide the droid


Hiding the droid requires a roll opposing the search teams search roll. The characters get +5 automatic bonus, and a +10 if they have a designated smuggling compartment. The boarding party consists of the same type troopers on the ground, only their search skill is 4D, and thier blaster skill is only 3D. There are four boarding troopers, plus an officer with the same stats as Mithel. His name is Commander Terik. Force techniques could be employed as required. If they find the droid, go to "Bribery" or "Resistance" or "Surrender", whichever one seems appropriate.

Bribery


The boarding team enters and the officer immediately places them under arrest. In the presense of his troops, Commander Terik will not accept any bribes. All bribes have to be made in privacy. If a suitable amount of money can be paid, (no less than 5,000) the good commander reports that it's the wrong droid. Also, Force techniques could be used, such as "Affect Mind". If bribery fails, go to "Surrender" or "Resistance".

Surrender


The ship is confiscated, the characters are held in the brig and taken to a garrison base on Naantett. Go to episoed 6a.

Outrun the frigate


The characters' ship has to be 50 space units from the planet. They could trade shots with the frigate and outmaneuver it to this point. If they fail to do so, they may be boarded. Go to any situation that fits the recipe.

Resistance


This is when a boarding team enters the ship and the characters fight back. This could get them into a lot of trouble. After or during the battle on the ship, someone has to be able to pilot it. This could get compicated, I leave it to the GM's imagination. Should the attempt to escape fail, they find that they are all stunned, and wake up in prison cell on Naantett, (go to episode 6a).

If the characters manage to escape the frigate, go on to episode 6. If they are captured, go on to 6a. Astrogation: Tatooine to Tanathca will take 7 hours and is a Difficult rout.

Episode 6: Tanathca



For those who have never been to Tanathca, the planet itself is an olive green color from orbit. There are numerous clouds and several large seas. The terrain is usually very boggish with swamps and quagmires, while in most other areas, it is lush green jungle. There are only a few deserts and grass plains, and several evergreen forests near the poles.

As soon as the characters enter orbit, describe the various shades of green, along with the sight of several seas. Read aloud:
While approaching the vast green globe, the comboard lights up, and a gargly voice says."Welcome to Tanathca, may we please have the name and make of your ship, and the name of your captain?"
The trafic controller puts this information through the public access ports. This is how Cresp is to rendevous with the characters, but it also how Imperials find the characters. Little do the characters know, that Imperials have alerted the traffic controllers. The Imperials will tell the traffic controller where to land. Unfortionately for the Imperials, no ships were available, so they have a couple of squads of stormtroopers waiting for the characters when they land. Go to "landing".

Landing


Soon the characters are allowed to land in a city named Carthos in Docking Bay 387B. Landing is no problem, but after landing, and when the characters get out, two squads of stormtroopers (10 troopers each) enter the docking bay with weapons drawn. A leader says, "Lay down all weapons and bring the droid to us." The characters could surrender, in that case all the characters are taken to a garrison base, then transfered to Naantett, go to episode 6a. If the characters choose to pick a fight, cover among their own ship is advised. After five rounds of combat, a large explosion strikes the troopers from the rear dealing 7D damage. After the blast, ten men with helmets and armor appear blasting the stormtroops. The armor on all of them is alike. The stormtroopers clear out nearly immediately.

The men approach the characters, one of them takes off his mask and reveals the face of Margo Cresp. Read aloud:
Cresp glances at the troopers on the ground and says, "Gee, things seem to be heating up, we should take your ship to Nagraro's base now". Go to "Nagraro".

Nagraro


Cresp gives the characters coordinates to Nagraro's base, over the desert, masking the ship's trail. The ship soon approaches the base in the jungle, towers of brownish green blend in with the trees. This is where the characters finish the journey, and meet their employer. Read aloud:
The ship swoops through tress, past a brownish green tower that looks as if it were grown, rather than built. It's hard to tell what's jungle, and what's building. The ship is guided to a landing pad surrounded by trees. Cresp says,"Okay, time to meet the boss." You follow cresp into a building. The halls are warm and humid as is the jungle outside. Dampness and moss cling to all the walls that a curved. Around a corner, and past several corridors, you are taken to a huge, dimly lit hall. The hall is oozing with mildew and slime. The odors are rancidly sour as you wrinkle your nose. Cresp notices this and comments,"Oh, you'll get used to the smell. Those that can't don't rise in the business." Soon, pudgy, slimy looking creatures tha look like guards take posts, and a door opens. Out slivers what appears to a large purplish squid. The creature reaches about 2 meters in height, but most of it's body consists of large tentacles helping it to move. Wide yellow eyes look upon you, and the creature says in a gargly voice,"I am Nagraro. Welcome to my home, do you like my mold?"
Nagraro is a Noglan. Noglans prefer damp, dark slimy places. Nagraro is very polite and gives the characters the money as prommised and invites them imploringly to stay. Whether or not the characters ask, Nagraro will explain the signifigance behind the droid.
"Oh, you must be wondering about the droid..."Nagraro flips a switch on the droid, and a hidden compartment is revealed about 6 inches square. Nagraro raises a small tentacle and lifts out the contents, a box. Nagraro lifts the lid of the box to reveal a slightly glittering blue powder. "Ryl spice.", Nagraro explains. " Very expensive, and very taxable. Oh, the encrypted coordinates were supposed to be wiped, their from my last trip. Sorry to trouble you, but I'm giving you a 50% bonus."
With a little more polite chatting, the adventure is over. That is unless they were captured by Imperials...

Episode 6a: Tanathca



This is the place that the characters are taken to. On a garrison base. When they wake up, they find themselves in the same prison cell. Soon, a rescue takes place.
From inside your cell, you hear shouting and blaster shots. Soon, the door opens and a figure in a blast helmet, vest and white uniform enters. "I'm with the Alliance!" he says, "We have to get that droid, this base is under attack so you must follow me."
Should the characters decide to go with the Rebel Trooper, then follow them on the encounters list and map. Otherwise, rearrange the encounters as you see fit.

Encounter A


This is the detention block control room. This is where the trooper tells the characters the plan.
As you enter the control room, smoke still rises from several officers. the room is small and there are several control posts, and two turbolifts."Listen," says the trooper, "The plan is this; we go down to maintence and pick up the droid, then we put these detonate charges on the power station. That will give us a bit of time to go." Just then, the lift door opens, four stormtroopers begin blasting.
As soon as the battle is finished, the trooper instructs the characters to help him find where maintenence is, as well as the power station. On an easy computer programming roll, show them a portion of the map containg the two on level one.

Encounter B


The characters are about to encounter several Stormtroops. Read aloud:
After exiting the turbolift. You hear a droning alarm throuout the vast facility, blasts and explosions can be heard distantly from outside. You round the corner on the right toward where Maintenence should be. Just as you come around, several stormtroops block your path!
To be precise there is ten of them. The rebel trooper immediatly shoots two, leaving eight, then is shot dead. The troopers will not retreat until there are only five left. Go on to encounter C.

Encounter C


After going through several corridors the characters easily find Maintenence. Read aloud:
The door swooshes open to find a vast room filled with lots of machinery and computer screens. There are two techs overlooking the droid even through the fighting. The techs look at you with surprise, "Hey, what the--?"
The techs pull out blasters, but retreat to the other side of the room out another door.

As soon as the techs escape or are killed, the Characters may take the droid with them. Go on to Encounter D.

Encounter D


This is the power station. Read aloud:
The door opens to a huge room with huge power core. Raw energy crackles among the conducters. Before you can react an Imperial Army trooper in the black uniform and helmet holds a pistol to you and says, "Go no further Rebel Slime!" however a Rebel trooper behind him smashes him on the shoulder with some heavy object as he falls limply to the ground. "Get out of here!" shouts the Rebel,"We're ready to go now".
Hopefully the characters take this guy's advice. Go to encounter E.

Encounter E


This is the docking bay. There is a battle going on between troopers of both sides, but no one notices the characters.
Blaster shots go back and forth. The Rebels seem to be retreating. Your ship and several other shuttles are in the bay. Hurry, the docking bay must be crumbling under the Rebels attack!"
Getting onto the ship is no problem. In order to avoid fallen and falling debris, flying is a moderate difficulty or the ship suffers slight damage (2D starfighter scale). Once in orbit, the ship must get to 50 units from the planet. They might be attacked by TIEs or Star Destroyers if you feel like it.

Naantett to Tanathca, 2 hours, easy journey (because of proximity). Go to "Landing".

Landing


A gargly voice greets the characters, and asks for names. Then the landing coordinates are transmitted. Once the characters land, Cresp comes to meet them. Read aloud:
Soon, after you exit the ship, a man enters the docking bay, it's Cresp. "Good to see you," he says "Get back in your ship, we're flying to Nagraro's". Hopefully the characters agree, go to "Nagraro" in episode 6.

Conclusion



Supposing that the characters are able to finally find and deliver the droid, the characters are rewarded the money, and recieve employment from Nagraro. They also become wanted by the Empire, and a 10,000 credit reward is placed on their head. Jabba doesn't like them much either. If they were not able to deliver the droid, Nagraro is forgiving, but only slightly. The characters find themselves owing him 50,000 credits. Whether or not the characters delivered. Tenin is caught by Jabba's men, and killed. The Empire places a bounty on his head for 5,000 credits, of which Jabba doesn't find worth collecting. Well, this leads to more adventures.
