A strange balloon airship moves slowly across stage carrying DEEDELUS, CHANTARA, MAXIMUSH, SOMA, and MILLIAMA. There is a rear projection of green sky with billowy clouds. Only Milliama does not appear overjoyed
DEEDELUS, MILLIAMA, MAXIMUSH, SOMA & CHANTARA
We’re on our way
To the Library at Marianat---
That’s where we‘ll read and we’ll learn.

We’re on our way
To the place where the facts are all at---
That’s where we’ll empty the urn.

They’ve got all these nooks there
Where knowledge we can seek out---
They’ve got all these books there---
We’ll have a wisdom freak out!

We’re on our way
To the Library at Marianat
Where the greatest minds in hist’ry once sat---
And it’ll be ours,
All ours!
 
 
MILLIAMA
Ain’t we there yet?

DEEDELUS

Well, it is taking longer than the funga men said. Good thing Chantara packed all those bookburgers.

MILLIAMA

Yeah, if there’s one thing I love it’s cold bookburgers.

SOMA

Man, when I think of all the funga we coulda had for what this schlucker cost!

MAXIMUSH

Nothing is too good for my dear boy.

CHANTARA

Look down there!

DEEDELUS

It looks like a magnificent castle.

SOMA

Always wanted a castle. That way you can grow your own funga.

DEEDELUS

There are people down there waving at us.

MAXIMUSH

A woman with blonde hair---and all those gorgeous men in those gorgeous uniforms.

CHANTARA

Wave back.

DEEDELUS

This must be Bimbuktu.

SOMA

The funga men must have told them we were comin’. (THEY ALL wave as the balloon begins its descent. On the rear projection, we see the green sky disappear and a castle come into view. From stage left, MADAME TEENALUNA enters. She is stout, blonde and middle-aged and wears an exquisite brocaded gown. Behind her is a platoon of GUARDS dressed much like those in the Vatican. DEEDELUS, CHANTARA, MAXIMUSH, SOMA and MILLIAMA step out from the balloon.)
TEENALUNA
Welcome to my humble home.

MILLIAMA

Humble?!

TEENALUNA

I am Madame Teenaluna, and these handsome young men are my friends and my guards.

DEEDELUS

Is this all the Library?

TEENALUNA

Good heavens, no! The Library is only one of my many treasures. I had it flown in piece by piece when it was unearthed some years ago outside Bimbuktu.

DEEDELUS

                                                           (to Maximush)
You see! Those scientists didn’t know what they were talking about.

MAXIMUSH

                                                          (shrugging)
Right you are if you think you are.

CHANTARA

May we see it now?

TEENALUNA

Wouldn’t you like to freshen up first?

DEEDELUS

Oh, no! My friends and I are much too anxious.

MILLIAMA

Speak for yourself.

TEENALUNA

Come this way.

                                                      (SHE leads them off stage left.)

DEEDELUS

                                                      (extracting the urn)
We’re here, Mama.
