Briefing Room
Name: Tuvok
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Played By: Tim Russ
About the Character: Tuvok is one of several Vulcans onboard the USS Voyager. He joined Starfleet at the insistence of his parents but later left. He returned to Vulcan to study, but experienced the Pon Farr and took a wife. He later returned to Starfleet and became Kathryn Janeway's confidante as well as her chief of security. He was the Starfleet spy sent to infiltrate Chakotay's Maquis ship when it was pulled into the Delta Quadrant. It was Voyager's mission to retrieve him as well as to capture the Maquis that resulted in its predicament in the Delta Quadrant. When Voyager encountered an alien race that possessed transporter technology that could shorten their trip home, Tuvok disobeyed Janeway's orders and obtained the technology, which was then found out to be incompatible with Federation technology. Due to a transporter accident, Tuvok was once melded with Neelix to form a new being called "Tuvix". Janeway, however, sacrificed Tuvix to return Tuvok and Neelix to their separate bodies. Tuvok was also Kes' mentor and attempted to help her develop her mental powers. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander during Voyager's fourth year in the Delta Quadrant. Once, he and Tom Paris were stranded on a planet after their shuttle was pulled into a gravitational 'sinkhole' where time elapsed at an accelerated rate. While there, Tuvok made the acquaintance of Noss, an alien woman who then developed amorous feelings towards him. When rescued by Voyager, Noss was taken back to her planet, but not after Tuvok explained why he was unable to reciprocate her affections. Recently, during an attack by a mysterious alien race, Tuvok experienced amnesia that rendered him "un-Vulcan". But he was restored after Voyager made contact with the aliens that had attacked him.
Rank: Chief Medical officer
Played By: Robert Picardo
About the Character: After Voyager's doctor was killed en route to the Delta Quadrant, the Emergency Medical Hologram became the full time doctor. The Doctor proved to be sentient, possible through the bioneural circuitry that Voyager was equipped with. The Doctor has since become a fully functioning member of the crew. He once attempted to incorporate the personality subroutines of several great thinkers from Vulcan, Earth, and other planet's histories. As an unexpected result from this modification, he began to experience 'split personas' and almost killed Kes. The problem was remedied when the subroutines were isolated and purged from his system. He also once attempted to learn more of human emotions when he created a holographic family. After B'Elanna Torres claimed that his program housed a family of 'lollipops', she modified the family to give the Doctor a taste of 'real' human families. However, as an unexpected result of these modifications, his holographic daughter, Belle, died in a sport related accident. When Voyager was pulled into the 20th century to stop a purloin timeship from being launched, the Doctor acquired an immobile emitter, which allowed him greater freedom and allowed him to move through the ship at ease. More recently, however, the Doctor suffered an almost complete failure when his ethical subroutines and his personality subroutines conflicted after performing an act of triage. However, this was resolved and he is now fully funtional again.
