When I first got connected to the Internet, I (being an avid Discworld fan) thought it would be a good idea to start up my own Discworld site - I was just starting to learn HTML. Over a year later, I looked at this site and realised, to my horror, that it was desperately out-of-date. I then decided (with about two days to do it) to re-vamp the layout, style, graphics and main content... and the result is what you see. IF you would like to learn more about me (hah!), my home page URL is http://www3.mistral.co.uk/lees/jennie.html. The two instances of my site are at: http://www3.mistral.co.uk/lees/discworld and www.geocities.com/Area51/Rampart/3453/. If you find that you can't see something because of your browser (although I have tried to make the site basic and easily viewable) or anything else is wrong with the site, I would love to know. What qualifies me as a Discworld fan, and therefore able to author this site? Well, I own all the Discworld novels and have read each one at least four times, can quote miscellaneous bits at you and know most of the answers to the questions in the Unseen University Challenge quizbook. Gods, I could have written that book... I am also often called upon to solve people's quandaries in the Discworld computer games. I am an afper but don't have the time nor money to really read all the messages now... my afpcode is "AAT d--- s--: a-- U++ R F++ h P- OS+:--- !C M- pp---- L+ c B+ Cn PT+ Pu60- 5++ X- MT e r-- z--"if that means anything to you. I have subscribed for over two years (although I've only been connected to the Internet for one year - work that one out!) and I have never joined AOL. Technical Information (as if you want to know): Created on a PC running Windows 95, using a text-based HTML editor called Arachnophilia (CareWare). Based on the Discworld Novels by Terry Pratchett. Tested using Internet Explorer (Pah!) and Netscape 4. Graphics 'hand-made' in Paint Shop Pro 4.12 - background from some miscellaneous background archive and tinted to blue in PSP. Uploaded using GeoCities EZ Upload and FTP Explorer. Recommended Newsreaders: Forte Free Agent/Forte Agent - Outlook Express and Netscape News work, but that's all - they're pathetic (in this person's opinion) at anything else. This site is unfinished. Please, please, PLEASE don't email me just to say "You forgot the Men At Arms synopsis" or "The Quirm page hasn't got anything on it!". It will be done, I promise. When is another matter... if you need information desperately, see the Discworld Companion or the Discworld books. If you need game hints, you can email me - but only for game hints. I admit the site's not complete yet... so don't criticise what's missing. OK? Copyright © Terry Pratchett from the Discworld (R) Novels. Maintained by Jennie Lees, lees@mistral.co.uk - 1998. |
