Solitudes

This is one of those ones that’s just plain old painful and that’s strange regarding Stargate. When I view Television or a movie I can become quiet vocal in my instructions to characters and boy was I yelling at the TV in this one. The character development was great between O’Neil and Carter. But the plot and idea about a second gate had a hole bigger than any glacial crevice could possibly have in Antarctica.

Plot

Daniel and Teal’c are flung out of the Stargate without Sam and Jack. Daniel is unconscious and Teal’c says that they encountered fire on the other side of the gate, Colonel O’Neil and Captain Carter gave cover for Daniel to dial home, and they should have come through the gate as well. Sam and Jack are in a place full of ice; they first take account of their supplies and Sam helps set Jack’s leg. Daniel wakes up and develops a theory of the gate jumping to another world along the path home. Teal’c and other SG teams go world to world while Daniel thinks on the problem. At the same time Sam and Jack are trying to dig out the DHD, which is surrounded by ice. They succeed and try to dial home but it doesn’t work. Daniel notices the gate acting up, later he realises that they are on Earth it’s self. They then find Jack and Sam in Antarctica close to Death.

Gripes

To save people who hate these I’m saving the essay length on another page, for your reading pleasure.

Favourite Scene

Captain Carter and Colonel saying bye to each other and Daniel explaining the phone (even if it was BS).

Acting

Fine job by all especially Amanda Tapping and Richard Dean Anderson, who give a good rendition of the seriousness of their situation, and develop their relationship further. Michael Shanks was good at playing Daniel’s worry for his friends, as was Don S. Davis and showing a sensitive side to Daniel. Christopher Judge gave great support.

Writer

Sorry but the gripes really destroy anything the writer Brad Wright could do. It has a strong feel but wasn’t really thought out in my humble opinion.
