Cerk is part of the Castle Kingdoms Alliance that spreads through the Caladon Mountains.
It is the southern most of the kingdoms, and is second only to Caladon in wealth.
History
The kingdom's unusual shape is due to the fact (rumor?) that it is an ancient impact crater of a very large meteorite. This would back up the existence of so many metal ores, specifically 'Star Metal.' Over time, dwarves found and exploited these minerals and a kingdom was born....
Mount Cerk is an old volcano that may have risen as a result of the impact. It is now dead.... (Dormant? Ha ha ha!)
Quick Facts
The main population is centered around the fortresses and mines. These towns, and the capital, Cerk, have the majority of the dwarven presence, with a smattering of gnome peoples.
The countryside is very fertile and is mainly farmed by halflings and humans.
All other races, elves, orcs, and such, are very rarely seen and are treated accordingly.
Law and Order
King Alfred of Cerk, a dwarf, has been the ruler of the kingdom for over 100 years. During this time the kingdom has grown in population and wealth. He is well loved by all the peoples of the kingdom and is known for his fair and just laws. Rule is also spread through nobles of the realm and their sheriffs. Law and order usually prevail over chaos and destruction.
There is total religious freedom for worship based on racial lines.
Economy
The kingdom gets its wealth from 2 main sources:
Cities, Towns, and Places of the Kingdom
- Mining. The combination of dwarves, gnomes, and metal ores is always profitable. Weapons and armor from the kingdom are reknowned for their quality and strength. Star Metal weapons are extremely rare and expensive, they are of incredible value for not only their high quality, but also their ability to accept magical enchantments.
- Trade. Being the closest kingdom to the south, Cerk has built up a reputation as a trading center for the Alliance and the south. Merchants guilds here are among the strongest in the Alliance.
