The SSD exams are in place to aid in the process of promotion and to gauge the aptitude of the Crew and Staff of the SSD. As of now, five exams are in place: the Midshipman's exam, the Officer's exam, the Line Officer's exam, the Flag Officer's exam and the Basic Technology exam. The first four exams must be passed in order to gain certain promotions, such as becoming a Midshipman, an Ensign, a Captain or a Flag Officer. The fifth exam is centered around basic Starfleet Technology and can help in gaining a promotion quicker within the SSD's technically oriented divisions. Much of the information covered on the exams can be found in the resources listed below. After completion, each exam will have to be e-mailed to the SSD for grading.
