Notes on Wildcats Award Policy

To receive an award, a squad member must be recommended for the award by a higher ranking officer. In the case of the CO, a recommendation from the DCO and one other officer is required.
Approval for an award is granted by the CO.
Squad members typically may not earn the same award for a similar achievement. Typically, the level of merit should be between 50% and 100% higher to earn a second award for a similar achievement.
The examples listed as kills and targets are on a per mission basis, with a typical maximum of three sorties.
Targets are usually only counted when enemy fighters are encountered or the mission is flow at low altitude against active ack.
Roughly, 3 assists equal one kill.
Typically, a pilot must safely land his plane to receive full credit for his sortie.
The DFC, Air Medal, and ACM will only be awarded a maximum of six times. (Each ribbon with one silver oak leaf cluster.)
Campaign Medals will only be awarded a maximum of six times. (Each ribbon with one silver star.)
All Wildcats awards are based on existing WWII awards and should be awarded for similar actions and achievements, although on a different scale allowing for the fact that WarBirds is a simulation and a game. While the ACM and POW Medal were not issued during WWII, they were later authorized for service during WWII.
