Poetry Place Section Four

This section has only one poem, and once you read it, you'll understand why. Enjoy!

Sleepless Knight

I told her I'd call
I said I would
I'd promise her all
If only I could
She want a friend
So that I shall be
But I want more
I want her to see me
Not as a friend,
Or companion dear,
but as something more.
Her smile is stunning,
her laugh is delightful,
her eyes are diamonds,
her hair, silk
her skin, velvet
her grin, pleasing
her lips, OH her lips
too lovely to kiss,
Though they beg to be,
Two blushing pilgrims,
as Shakespeare once wrote.
A kiss from those lips
must be heaven on earth
something to be experienced,
not wondered about in verse.
The horror, to be a friend
Knowing, and pleading,
this is not your end.
Dreaming for such a kiss,
but not taking, for that is amiss.
No, no a friend is better.
To be cast out,
Would kill the splendor.
Destroy the heart,
and kill the soul.
Who year to feel that
splendid kiss, oh such a kiss!
Bide your time,
She'll come around,
Don't push, or shove
Don't rush, or hurry
she'll get annoyed,
then you'll worry
Will she cast me out
of her sacred presence
Should I even be worthy,
of such a grace?
Am I out of bounds?
Am I in the wrong place?
No, no her friend I must be
She lets me stay,
I've not gone awry
Shall this poem drive her so?
No, no her friend I will stay,
and dream, and dream
of a better day.
Will I mention this poem?
will I suggest, she not
judge me to harshly, if
she insists on reading it?
Would she understand, and
just let it lie, or would
she decide, I'm a great guy?
Yes, Yes what a feeling
that'd bring, but the other
if she chose no, if she
cast me out, called me foul
names, would I sustain?
Oh the pain, the agony
No, no her friend, I persist
Her friend
her friend
It doesn't fit....
I close my eyes,
and her face doth appear
bursts open my thoughts
and sets them astray
Do friend do this?
I think not
It hasn't happened before
Friends do not yearn to hold her hand,
or rejoice at her caressing thier hair,
no, not their, my hair she did touch
Oh, she did, she did
My memory is like rock
She did, oh what pleasure
not a friends reaction.....
Never a friend, my feelings are deeper,
They have greater ends,
far greater ends.
I wish her to see me,
as more then a lover
My ends are much greater,
a lover, oh I can but dream of such splendor,
But I want more,
Her embrace to be certain,
Her happiness to be assured,
Her anger to be endured,
but my soul,
indeed my entire being,
past, present, and future
cry out for but one thing...
Her love
No, no not a friend
Never a friend
Her love
Her love in all it's glory
To make her smile
just at my thought,
to be what she wants,
if but for a minute,
Her love
Yes, yes that is what I want,
a friend desires this not!
Her love
Her love
HER LOVE
I'll be damned if I stay friend
I'll be forever cursed
So close to my dreams
So far from their realization
Just by a word
Friend
That I could not take
Can not take, but will
The chance of her love,
just the thought of it,
has bound me to her,
sure as can be.
Her love
A friend
A friend I stay
dreaming of a day
when friendship ends,
and I can say
my dreams are answered
I've got all I need
Her love

A Friend

Someone you love without reason
Knowing that physical will never have it's season
Someone to tell all your worries to
Someone to comfort you, when you are blue
Someone to joke, party, and play with
Someone to swap dirty stories, horror tales, and myth
Someone who will watch your back without question
Just as you will watch theirs with devotion
A friend
A tie that can not be broke
Nor be bent
Forged of the will, mind, and soul
It may grow old, and fade away,
But it will flare anew another day.
