Getting married the Star Trek Way!

NEWSFLASH!!!!!

It was a Saturday, the 23rd of November, 1996. That was the fated day that I met the man of my dreams -- and he was wearing a Star Trek uniform. In the following two years we have had more than a fair share of ups and downs (long story *sigh*), but all the time we knew that we were made for each other, and finally tied the knot on August, 28th 1998.

We met because of Star Trek and to quote my husband: "That's the way I met you, and that's the way I want to marry you." Even the minister went along and donned a uniform.

For those of you in the know, you will see that the minister wore a TNG Admiral's uniform, whereas the happy couple wore Classic Movie Uniforms. Well, neither of us was born with silver spoons stuck down various openings, laden with loads o'money etc, so basically we accepted the very nice offer of a friend who owns this uniform, which just happened to fit.

The uniforms worn by my husband and me are ours, of course, made-to-order. After all, you only get married once, right (hopefully, that is!), and contrary to a wedding dress, I WILL be able to wear this again and again -- at least once a month when we visit the local Trek Dinner again.

Don't forget to
have a look at my guestbook, and then sign it, too! Oh, and since the guestbook is for all of my pages, not just Star Trek, don't be put off by the definitely non-Star Trek design .... ;o)

This is the first official wedding photo. The guy behind my husband and me is the minister. Actually, this photo was taken by the press just before we were married. Trekkie Wedding And no, I am NOT missing a tooth, that's just the pic's resolution ... it will look better when you click it, I promise ... *ggg*
First pic after the ceremony This is when we left the registrar's offices, just after the ceremony. At that time, we had been man and wife for less than 10 minutes. All his colleagues surprised us. My husband works less than 10 minutes' walk from the place where we were married, so his boss and colleagues decided to take some time off to congratulate us.
We are walking through a little guard of honour, made by my husband's colleagues. My husband one of his company's fire fighters, so they decided to surprise us, too. Above us, you can see the rice being thrown. There must have been pounds of this stuff in my hair, when I shook my head to clear them, it was a right rice shower. Rice Shower
The log -- not electronic, but wooden It is a tradition in some parts of Germany to get a freshly married couple to saw through a nice thick log, in order for them to show that they are a good team. We got through it in record time, so we proved that we are in fact a GREAT team.
Udo is pumping water... This is another tradition, at least for couples where one is a fire fighter. Here, my husband had to pump the water and I had to douse the fire. The fire in this case was a little fire devil painted on a little metal plate. We managed this task, too, maybe because I stood closer to the fire than I should have?? ...Tina is fighting the fire.
Sneaking a little kiss, apart from the champage-downing crowd ... and silly us, we actually thought no-one was looking ... A little kiss, full of happiness
Want some champagne? Finally, after all the work, the happy couple was offered champagne, too. At last -- I had begun to think they would never ask!!

THERE ARE MORE PICTURES TO COME, BUT WE HAVEN'T SEEN THE PHOTOGRAPHER YET -- BOOKMARK THIS PAGE AND RETURN FOR PICS OF THE WEDDING CAKE AND MORE....

By the way, people wanted to know about my wedding since September, 15th, 1998.
