The good old Beeb took this on board after Terry Nation proposed it at the end of an otherwise unproductive brainstorming meeting in 1977. Blake's 7 lasted 4 seasons until the infamous episode "Blake" when the 7 were seemingly killed off. Fans have debated ever since about the characters' final fate as the only blood seen was that of Blake himself.
My favourite ship has of course got to be the Liberator. Sorry, but although the Scorpio model was extremely well built, the designs did seem to go downhill a little for season 4.
I have recently heard that Paul Darrow (Avon) intends to produce 2 TV movies, based 20 years after the final episode "Blake". By basing it 20 years later, I assume this means they don't have to worry about making the cast look younger! Fingers crossed, we should see the first one next year. I really wish there was an excuse they could find to bring back a ship like the Liberator. The latest CGI would create a beauty, I'm sure.
Blake's 7 was an inspiration to J M Straczynski, the creator of Babylon5.
