The story so far: The Scooby Gang has been fractured. While Buffy and Dawn stand on the edge of forging a new and closer sisterly bond, Willow must confront the consequences of her actions when she killed Warren and almost destroyed the world, with help from Giles. Meanwhile, after his abortive marriage to Anya, Xander must find a way to win back her love, but first is part of a construction crew rebuilding Sunnydale High. Anya is a vengeance demon once again, but that's nothing compared to Spike, who, after attempting to rape Buffy to prove his warped love for her, has returned from his trip to Africa with his soul returned to him. However, the team will have to band together again pretty quickly, as there's some seriously bad mojo heading for Sunnydale that will put Buffy up against her most ferocious enemies all over again…
