Andre was a typical Military Brat. His father was a captain, and his mother was a nurse. He was the eldest of three children and the only son. His sisters were named Louisa and Margaret. He took after his father and excelled in the disciplines of both school and army life. His two sisters, however, rebelled. Margaret became a Goth called Foxglove, which was of no end of vexation to their mother; while Louisa became a paranoid Datahound with the handle Friar Tuck. Despite the internal conflicts, life was not too bad. Then one year ago, his father failed to come home. The army says his current whereabouts and/or condition are classified. After the tragedy, the family began to self-destruct. It was only Andre's sudden illness that prevented a complete meltdown. As the family pulled together to help him survive, Andre infected them with the Carbon Plague. Andre pulled through as a Scanner, although he told no one. Despite this new gift, it was a hard month for him. Less than four days after he recovered, Margaret was dead. It seems she was attempting an especially impressive act of garbage truck diving when she missed. Two days later, in a completely unrelated event, Louisa was killed. Supposedly, Vivian Bolton-Deimer (a GoldenKid) was bored and decided to amuse herself and her friends with a psychological game of chicken with a girl picked up off the street, but she went a bit too far. Louisa died from an extreme allergic reaction to one of the hallucinogens she received.
Andre was not going to take this lying down. He went to his superiors in the hope that he could go after Vivian, but they thought it was too risky. In response, Andre told his cadre that he had received permission. All but one member of the group died in the mission (10 dead), but they succeeded and killed Vivian, along with her bodyguard, her secretary, and five of her friends (two were severely wounded, but recovered). Then, in a purely personal move, he framed the Bow Street Guardians (he felt that they should have saved Louisa). Although the police never formally named a suspect, within a week, twelve of the Guardians disappeared and the co-leaders were cut in half by cap guns. The Grunts held a formal court martial and pronounced a sentence of death for Andre. While his trial commenced, his mother died of the plague. The board led him to the former headquarters of the Bow Street Guardians, where he was to be hung as a traitor. As he was led up the scaffold, he delivered a massive static charge to his guards. As they fell, he grabbed their side arms and jumped over the edge. While the board was preparing a counter-attack,
he took careful aim through a chink in the boards and fired. He missed his target, the leader's kneecap, but he did hit the second in command - just as he was preparing to throw a fragmentary grenade. He dropped it and set off a chain reaction. Other grenades detonated, ammunition exploded, and shrapnel flew. At the end, everyone in the entire room was dead or wounded. Andre took damage to his face and chest, but, ironically, the scaffold saved him from the worst of it. Before he lapsed into unconsciousness, he saw a huge shadow and a much smaller shadow looking down at him. The smaller said, "I think he will fit in wonderfully." The police avoided investigating the deaths too carefully out of fear of stepping on too many toes.
Now, Andre goes by the name Genghis and runs the Praetorian Guard for the Disavowed. He is a hard taskmaster and does not accept contradiction or unsolicited advice from anyone but a superior. He does not trust everyone in the Council, but regards Bonepart as his commander-in-chief and respects his wishes. Personally, he has become even more of the Grunt he once was. His language in short and forceful; he does not waste time on BS or pleasantries. Not that people mind keeping conversations with him short. He has taken to wearing all black, including black gloves and black Enviroboots. The right side of his face was scarred in his escape, including the loss of his right eye; so, he wears a black eye patch and a black beret to cover some of the damage to his skull. He keeps his blonde hair cut to no more than inch and tries to see that his new 'soldiers' do the same. Currently, he is continuing his campaign against the Grunts, Guardians, and Goths. He recognizes Bonepart's master plan, so he goes along since they eventually involve pain to his three prime targets. He is a very dangerous individual. He is cold, vicious, and clever. It is best to stay out of his sights.
