Things started badly for Freo, when Dunstall had about three goals on the board before Freo had even looked like scoring. Shane had the job on Dunstall during this period, and it was looking like another Lockyer day for a while, but Neesham shuffled the backline, and Jones got the job for a while, then Shane jumped into big Jase in a marking contest, and hurt poor Jase's knee. Turned out not to be a serious injury, but the Hawks elected to let Jase sit out the game, as they saw no point in risking him.
Fremantle had a fair amount of the ball during this game, but somehow they just didn't seem to be able to convert possession into goal scoring chances.
Final Score : Fremantle 8.9-57 disappeared without a trace to Hawthorn 15.9-99
